Except nobody will ever take PTO because when promotion time comes, the boss is going to see that you took all of your PTO while Some Douchebag never did and think that you're a lazy worker.

This is great for bosses and horrible for everybody else.

The bigger issue is there is an assumption that Blue states are more moral than red states, but that is a bunch of b***s***. Fix your states on the two coasts before you try to run the country again.
LOL of course at the idea that you have to renounce all claims to moral authority unless everyone in the geographic area that you represent is a good human.

That said, the bolded is a pretty typical attitude among people in the deep South. People in the deep South are hypersensitive to anything they perceive as liberal, Ivy League, coastal elitism.

Huge turnaround. The new overtime rules protecting workers that Obama had put into place had just recently been demolished, and now Republicans have already put this overtime destruction into place. They've been wanting to do this for a long time, by the way. They've been pushing this bill in some form for years, I think it's probably traced back to ALEC in some way. Huge win for lobbyists and CEOs, huge loss for the producing classes.

This is going to hit working class voters especially hard, they are usually the ones that really get railed with these overtime rules.

Lying to the Senate in confirmation hearings? No big deal.

Laugh at Jeff Sessions' lies? You could get a year in prison.

A jury on Wednesday convicted a Virginia woman who was charged with disrupting the confirmation hearing of Jeff Sessions as attorney general after she laughed during the proceeding.

The woman, Desiree A. Fairooz, an activist with the group Code Pink, was found guilty of the two charges she faced: disorderly conduct and parading or demonstrating on Capitol grounds. The jury also convicted two other activists in the group she was with, Tighe Barry and Lenny Bianchi, who were dressed as Ku Klux Klan members with white hoods and robes and stood up before the Jan. 10 hearing started.

The verdicts were returned shortly after noon Wednesday. A two-day trial in United States Superior Court in Washington ended on Tuesday. All three face up to 12 months in prison.

If I were Trump, I'd start running for reelection now. Oh wait...

They'll just blame immigrants for using all the overtime and forcing Trump's hand to Make America Great Again.

Is this for hourly or salary workers? I was under the impression Obama's changed the rules for salaried workers. Does this just change it back to what it was before?
05-03-2017 , 01:49 PM
Salaried workers are generally exempt from overtime aren't they?
05-03-2017 , 01:51 PM
Blumenthal flat out ripping this clown.

A year in jail for protesting... for laughing. We're not a free country.

If someone in Russia was convicted and sentenced on this charge one year ago for protesting Putin, it would have been an outrage to us here. Now it's happening here.

The rules were changed for some salaried workers:

http://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/...ime-rules.html

They have only been in effect for a couple of months and I don't know if this only rolls back what was just put in place.
05-03-2017 , 01:57 PM
Those rule changes (meant to protect workers who are often left out of the overtime system by unscrupulous management/owners), which were put into place by Obama, never went into effect. But that article is pretty much just corporate lobbyist propaganda. Why do you trust Fox Business? They don't have anybody's best interests in mind if you don't make at least $250,000 a year and even then it's marginal at best.
05-03-2017 , 01:58 PM
Trump: Ok fellas, give me some input.
CEOs: We've been looking long and hard for a way to screw ourselves and benefit employees.
05-03-2017 , 02:01 PM
Democrats never got any credit from working class white voters for pushing through the overtime rules in the first place. So don't expect them to necessarily care about this. It's almost like there's something driving their votes besides "economic anxiety."

fun fact, in russia, JUST LAST WEEK putin's main opposition leader was sprayed in the face with an antibacterial mixed with some sort of acid or poison. he may be losing vision in his right eye and he is not allowed to leave the country to see a doctor in europe. meanwhile a state-owned news outlet posted video of the seconds after the incident with two assailants' faces blurred out. still the internet started an investigation, and found that both were police operatives, who possibly specialize in these incidents.

but yeah you can totally hear the outrage here. :eyeroll:

here he is addressing everyone hours after the attack.

no, but let's not pretend we'd be outraged over something happening in russia. we have our own tail to chase.

I don't, I just googled and it was the first article that pooped up that explained to some degree what the legislation that was just past (under Obama)was about.

Here's his chance to show us how he would have used his great mediating skills to prevent the Civil War. He also has Jared by his side, which is overkill IMO.

And sometimes Russia has our tail in its mouth. I know GOP says not to worry about that stuff, but we worry about that stuff.
