The only thing that Republicans as a whole truly care about is getting tax cuts for rich people. Full stop. Everything else they pretend to care about is just a strategy to get tax cuts for rich people. They are not even particularly racist--it's just that they can use racism to get tax cuts for rich people.

Sure, a guy here or there cares about abortion or sharia law or immigration or monogamous gays--but to most of them its just about staying in power so they can get those juicy tax cuts.

Which is why Trump makes perfect sense.

That's also why the tax deal is the one thing you can guarantee will get done.

Well, some of them really are pretty racist. I think that's why they trust Trump so much. They trust him because they truly believe that he shares their racism and their desire to roll back social progress.
