As a Canadian, I'm fairly sure I have the authority to offer annex with the west coast states... and some of the northeast... and Alaska I guess. WTF, Hawaii too since they're not really a state, just a collection of islands in the Pacific.

If anyone is interested, just contact my buddy Justin, he can hammer out the deets.
Can you include Nevada out west and enough of the Mid-Atlantic to get to me in Maryland? Where do I sign?

former farm kid--I'm a wheatpoor.

Seems like everyone in the thread are all rich by comparison to me and also talking politics makes everyone hate you if you disagree at all; so there's that too and I'm not afraid of going into that fire. (ie stupid but you all already knew that).

Gone mostly unnoticed due to the chaos today--a DOJ lawyer was arguing in the supreme court today that US citizenship should be revoked for trivial falsehoods found out at any time later.

At least everyone in the court was like WTF NO NO NO NO NO NO NO in supreme court verbiage.

None of this is hyperbole.

**** him and **** every single last person that supported him for one second.

Everyone will be dead because of him.

Had a great moment with mom today where she wanted to know what income levels correspond to the 10/25/35 tax rates, so I spent 15 minutes trying to find it while arguing with her only to find out they haven't actually released that information yet!

Trump having a coke button is the funniest goddamn thing ever.

You know he's totally bragging about it when he meets world leaders.

Merkel: OK, Mr. Trump, we need to talk about NATO.

Trump: Isn't it great being a world leader? It's fantastic! I love it! I have my own personal butler. He's great! Amazing! Watch this! (pushes red button) Want a coke Ang? I'll hit the button twice. He'll get it for you. You'll see. He's tremendous! He's the best butler and gives me the best coke. The best!

Merkel:.......

When Trump invited the Senate up to the WH, it crossed my mind that he might take this opportunity to take real power, à la Sadam Hussein.

Quote:
Saddam convened an assembly of Ba'ath party leaders on 22 July 1979. During the assembly, which he ordered videotaped,[38] Saddam claimed to have found a fifth column within the Ba'ath Party and directed Muhyi Abdel-Hussein to read out a confession and the names of 68 alleged co-conspirators. These members were labelled "disloyal" and were removed from the room one by one and taken into custody. After the list was read, Saddam congratulated those still seated in the room for their past and future loyalty. The 68 people arrested at the meeting were subsequently tried together and found guilty of treason. 22 were sentenced to execution. Other high-ranking members of the party formed the firing squad. By 1 August 1979, hundreds of high-ranking Ba'ath party members had been executed.

Haven't seen this poasted yet (sorry if I missed it) but it seems like yuge news no?

Quote:
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Friday that US sanctions against Russia will remain in place until Moscow "reverses the actions" it has taken in Ukraine.

The comments are notable given President Donald Trump's at-times reluctance to criticize Russia over its actions in Crimea, though he did declare last month that the territory was "taken" by Russia.

B.C. moves to ban U.S. coal transport in retaliation for softwood duties.
