I heard NATO was an old Olympic game and they used to do it.

F*cking Trump, but said in a shaking head kind of voice

Quote:
President Donald Trump raised more than a few eyebrows during his first visit as president to Walter Reed National Medical Center on Saturday when he awarded the Purple Heart to Army Sergeant First Class Alvaro Barrientos. "When I heard about this, I wanted to do it myself," Trump told Barrientos as he placed the Purple Heart on the soldier's lapel. “Congratulations … tremendous.” The medal is given to service members who were wounded or killed in battle.

At least he didn't say "corpse man" though

Or what he said during his campaign about the purple heart someone gave to him. I heard the story for the first time yesterday and was slightly floored.

Quote:
8/2/16

Without setting foot on a battlefield, Donald Trump said he received a Purple Heart medal on Tuesday at his rally in Ashburn, Virginia, from a retired lieutenant colonel and supporter.

“I said to him, 'Is that like the real one, or is that a copy?” the Republican nominee said moments after taking the stage at a local high school.

Trump recounted the exchange, remarking that the man, who he identified as retired Lt. Col. Louis Dorfman said, "That's my real Purple Heart. I have such confidence in you."

"And I said, 'Man, that’s like big stuff. I always wanted to get the Purple Heart," Trump said. "This was much easier.”

Trump then invited Dorfman to appear onstage with him on camera, as the two posed for photographs and Trump flashed a thumbs-up before placing the Purple Heart back in his suit jacket pocket.

He really still doesn't understand NATO. And no it's not okay to say you said something is obsolete because you didn't know anything about it. That is not an okay reason.

Oh yeah and some people voted or really wanted to vote for him. Again Trump being an ignorant foofer is not some kind of post election prize. He is who we thought he was.

Trump is very stupid. I wish that were the worst of his faults.

Well he said he's in a dark blue state and said he would've voted for MAGA if not, so if he's not lying it still makes his answer irrelevant and dishonest. Like, if I was on my way to vote for daddy and a company of honey badgers attacked me, thus preventing me from casting my ballot, I wouldn't later choo-choo the trump train but get too cute and add, 'Well actually, I didn't ACTUALLY vote for him.' That's just wasting everyone's time.

John Oliver's main story tonight was really good (not on YT yet or I'd link), focusing on Ivanka and Jared and pointing out that people counting on them to be moderating influences on Trump don't really have any good reasons for thinking that. His main points for each were...

- Ivanka: like her father, she's been bred to be a PR rep for the Trump brand and says what people want to hear rather than actually divulging any information about herself. She's not really made it known what issues are actually important to her, other than her childcare/family leave stuff which so far is vaporware, and on other issues where people seem to project liberal beliefs onto her (i.e. a network interviewer said she thinks Ivanka is in favor of Planned Parenthood, or she invited Al Gore to Trump Tower (leading people to think she cares about climate change) shortly before he selected LOL Scott Pruitt for the EPA) Trump has acted against those issues thus far.

- Jared: Trump has put him in charge of basically all of the hardest jobs a president could possibly deal with (peace in the middle east! reform the VA! reform the government! do everything!) and we know nothing about him to suggest he's capable of doing particularly well at any of them. He was born into wealth, got into Harvard thanks to a $2.5m family donation, and took over his family company while not demonstrating any particular excellence at business; for the accomplishment of marrying Ivanka, Trump has now put him in charge of tons of ****, and people seem happy largely because that clears the low bar of Steve Bannon not handling those things.

I think it is mostly wishful thinking. I know I hoped the fact Ivanka never appeared completely insane gave me hope but she has absolutely pulled the Trump line second only to her father. She is the smoothest operator in the whole family thus probably the most dangerous.

I think when she gets divorced I will marry her so I can keep her in check in the future.

I agree, it was a pretty good one. It left me wanting to search the youtubez for videos of Kushner speaking! Really incredible the degree of nepotism that this administration brought with it and how easily it is being overlooked or normalized.

I often wonder why Trump chooses not to lash against John Oliver or Stephen Colbert, they both go really hard at him. Maybe now that John Oliver did a piece on Ivanka a twitter meltdown may come?

I don't think trump understands either of them enough to get mad. He is strictly cable news.

They keep pushing the envelope, though. At some point it's going to get to him.

For example, in tonight's episode, John Oliver photoshopped Trump's head on a fat naked guy like three times. You bet that's gotta hurt his fragile ego.
04-24-2017 , 02:38 AM
lol I'm just about to watch it. Beyond not comprehension I think certain people scare Trump and he doesn't want to give them a spotlight to grow their audience.
04-24-2017 , 02:40 AM
Trump doesn't watch Comedy Central and Fox & Friends won't run clips, thus he doesn't care. Maybe they should put their logo in those informational/trolling ads they run for him.

This is absolutely wrong. Trump is the symptom, he didn't influence ****. Trump was a candidate who gave the GOP base what it had wanted for a decade. The right wing media blew up Bush's reform and blew up the Gang of 8 reform long before Trump was running for ****.

People under 30 are not represented by politicians, because they are a to small interest group that lack institutional influence. Politicians rarely give them any reason to vote other then "The other side is even worse".

Free college and student debt relief was a campaign platform of Bernie in the primary, and then Hillary in the general. Not sure how you can appeal to young people any more than that. Support for Planned Parenthood also should primarily appeal to women under 30. Climate change is a young person's issue, too, in the sense that it is not the olds who will suffer the most disastrous consequences. The imperative for millennials to vote Democratic in November should have been even clearer than for older groups.

That being said, ASAP and 2Out's handwringing about turnout seems exaggerated. I've read that millennial turnout was comparable to 2012, and that the same number voted for Romney as Trump.

To be fair the damage has been done within the past 30-40 years and the rest of the world did already laugh at the USA before Trump. We already said that over and over again, Trump is the symptom. Even if Trump is gone, the people who enabled him will still be there.

The USA is one of the only country's were it is still a debate whether or not climate change is happening and the politics of the USA do reflect that. Just look up the prison industrial complex, it is outrageous how this works in the USA. Americans are great at self deception and this is something used by politicians and corporate interests alike.

Human dignity was sold out to corporate interest a long time ago in the USA. Ever wondered why the USA still doesnt have universal health care. The average American is not more then a cow to be milked by big company's.

Agree that the US has sucked for a while. What's happening right now however, and what will be happening in the next few years (?), is unprecedented in our history. Trump and his administration are pushing every legal limit (and most likely passing some) to fit their needs over the needs of the people and it's been despicable to say the least.
