I'll ignore the hyperbole, but does the law matter at all?

Isn't doing what's right more important than the law? How does anyone gain from deporting someone who has been here since they were two? You hurt that individual immensely and get what in return?
04-23-2017 , 12:30 PM
Not if you confuse the law with some standard of morality

As soon as 2 year olds start learning how to follow it.

Quite obviously, we do not enforce every single law to its fullest extent, or do you get a ticket every time you speed?

No, no I don't. But, do the police do the best they can to enforce traffic laws with the resources they have? Isn't that, you know, their job?

Lol. Are you serious with this? Follow this logic to its conclusion. Who determines what is right? You, 13ball?

No their job is to make the roads as safe as possible. Road laws are a proxy for the real goal that is road safety (and revenue generation irl). Selective enforcement is an assumed unspoken aspect of our legal tradition.

Patriots avatar. It all makes sense.

Sports avatar not a good sign at all. How Trumpy is SE?

Patriots are the worst though, at least if you aren't from New England.

I just don't get why anyone here would care if someone who was taken here at 2 years old would be allowed to stay. Like, how does that ruin your day?

That is exactly why, to the extent possible, the laws should be good and the laws should be followed. It is kind of an important thing.

So you would follow any law no matter how immoral it was? Seems worse.

I'm inclined to answer no to both, depending on your definition of "best." One, they don't even pull over every speeder they catch because they let some people who are 1 mph over go so they can try and bag a bigger target. Two, they don't even enforce traffic laws (among others) to the extent that they have personnel. They pick and choose how to allocate those resources depending on priorities, not just on how to maximize the extent of enforcement.

But not the laws related to perjury, right?

Blowjobs were illegal in dozens of states until the mid-2000s. The laws are still on the books - except it's considered nullified by the SCOTUS. Although as we've seen with MJ laws - the states can and will buck federal laws if they want.

But yeah - gotta deport those dreamers because IT'S THE LAW.

How anything these ****s do can boggle your mind boggles my mind

You know what else is the law?

Not profiting off being the president and divesting from his investments before taking office.

And perjury.

How is it hyperbole? It's literally what's going on. People born outside the US that are brought here as children are being deported. They didn't commit the crime of coming here illegally. Their parents did.

Imagine ICE shows up at your door right now and informs you that when you were a child, your parents came here illegally from India. You have a college degree, a job, a mortgage, car, wife and 2 kids. Tough **** you dirty foreigner. Get out. You don't speak Hindi? Not my problem. Get out. You haven't been to India in 25 years? Too bad. You don't belong here. Get out. Your wife and kids are crying hysterically because they don't know what's going on? Tough ****. Get out.

You don't see something wrong with this?

OH BUT THE LAW IS THE LAW! SORRY GUYS!
