Oh, forgot to mention earlier that Russian bombers flew close to Alaska again last night, for the 2nd day in a row. They were 100 miles off shore on Monday and 36 miles away yesterday. We'll see if this pattern continues tonight I guess.

Then there's this item too...

CIA, FBI launch manhunt for leaker who gave top-secret documents to WikiLeaks

Find the leaks! Also today, Assange claimed that his next wikileaks coming soon will be all kinds of illegal activities conducted by the CIA. Not completely sure what's going on behind the scenes, but this battle has the potential to get ugly.

I seriously don't even understand why this something to argue about. Our K-12 education system is pretty embarrassing compared to our relative wealth. What is it about this fact that triggers people to shift the goalposts and rave about how awesome some of our universities are? We can and should be doing a much better job educating the general populace. There is nothing even remotely controversial about that stance.
While I agree that our public education system is embarrassingly under resourced, it's also true that USA #1 spends tremendous amounts of money on students with special needs that countries like China allow to fall by the wayside early on in their education.

Just in case there's one of you out there who really thought chaffetz didn't have future political aspirations, he's got those domains wrapped up.

Been gone for a week or so.

Can someone explain to me HTF the US said they sent an armada to NK when in fact, we sent it the opposite way? Like, how does that happen? How does this armada go the opposite way for a week before anyone notices it?

Oh and speaking of NK, let's say that missile test had been successful. WTF was the plan considering the armada that apparently was headed towards that area was no where near NK?

I'm seriously starting to think real life is a video game and we are all just getting trolled before the reset button is hit.

Someone probably asked what they had in the area, Trump's team took that info and ran with it, spinning it to say the ships were sailing full speed towards North Korea, but no one bothered to check to what actually happening on the ground.

Or they just lied. Because that's what they do.

hopefully they didn't tell SK/Japan it was coming. You can't in the military say ship A is coming at point B at time C, because if it's not, well someone gonna be mad or dead.

SK is likely pretty unhappy with that and when trump said china owned korea once. If they feel that trump can't be relied on, that's not good. Not good at all.

Also you can't just lie like that if NK believes it, since they can blow up Seoul if they feel threatened.

Not that trump gives the slightest damn about that. Hell, he might want it.

The reset button is what happened to the dinosaurs. Probably will get us eventually but I didn't think there was a chance it'd actually happen in my lifetime.

So when Trump cant pass a budget will the stock market go down?
04-20-2017 , 12:29 AM
North Korea bet, Trump bluff raised, NK called, and Trump's hand was good. It's his life strategy.

Well, they are at work on a whole extra week of government funding. That should calm the markets.
04-20-2017 , 12:38 AM
do you have a link? i am trying to figure out the timeline of the budget stuff. for what it is worth, is anyone at all in Washington on board with the Trump budget proposals? Here is the plan people: 100 No Votes in the Senate.

I read the extra week thing in some random article yesterday, maybe politico. I really don't think it's going to go smoothly.

Seeing Trump's Whitehouse at work is likely watching a noob play a complex game like CivilizationV without knowing the rules, while claiming they are pro.

This raise is surely going to scare dems off their hand:
"The White House, under internal pressure to show legislative achievements ahead of the 100-day mark, is gearing up for a government shutdown fight to secure money for a border wall, more immigration enforcement officers and a bigger military, according to White House and congressional sources familiar with the plan.

It is a risky gambit. With almost uniform Democratic opposition to nearly all of the Trump administration's spending proposals, the fight could lead to a government shutdown next Friday — the day government spending expires, and right before the 100th day of Donald Trump's presidency. Officials could also strike a one-week compromise, giving them more time for a broader agreement.

Congressional Republicans, desperately looking to avoid a shutdown scare, are eyeing a modest increase for border security — perhaps an increase in funding for surveillance technology — and a small uptick in military spending. But two senior White House officials say they want a bigger win out of the fight, and an important deadline might help."

Man, the optics of a government shutdown at the 100-day mark are going to be wild and crazy. The 100th day is the kind of thing that even non-political people will be aware of, and it will be Trump standing in front of a raging dumpster fire saying, "Nothing to see here! It's all going exactly according to plan! America has been made great again!"

When the government "shuts down" the only things they keep working are military, police and prisons. That sounds like Trump and the GOP's dream come true.
04-20-2017 , 01:45 AM
Yah, small government right? Go GOP.

Funny anecdote from yesterday's Fresh Air interview with Obama's former deputy chief of staff: On long overnight flights the president's staff sleeps on the floor of Air Force One (there's like two couches for the most senior staff). And there are two bathrooms, so there's a line in the morning to freshen up. Sounded a bit rough all things considered.
