"President Donald Trump, consumed by the idea that a world leader would use chemical weapons on his own people..."

Not the most comforting lede. The article kind of explains the background on the Spicer debacle.

In short, Trump may need a hefty dose of the Overview Effect, which is a shift in perspective reported by astronauts that leads to a greater awareness of the fragile beauty of Earth and its inhabitants. It's a last-ditch effort, but if anything can wake our President up to this reality, it just might be an airborne tweet. - Autonomous Space Agency Network

Dunno if this is a conspiracy theory, but seeing how the gassing/missile response accomplished just about nothing except the perception of a trump pivot on Russia, I think it's possible this is just theater created by putin.

You've got trump looking tough on assad and getting a ratings bump, his SoS (friend of putin!!!) talking "tough" to lavrov without a press pool around, while the congressional investigation is off the front page. It feels like now trump and putin cabinets and ambassadors can pretend to be quarreling for awhile and then magically sign some syria peace for publicity.

I've seen it all on wwe in the nineties. You get fooled once, you can't get fooled again.

It's a reference to this quote:
Quote:
“You develop an instant global consciousness, a people orientation, an intense dissatisfaction with the state of the world, and a compulsion to do something about it. From out there on the moon, international politics look so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, ‘Look at that, you son of a *****.”

It's the first use of this bomb in combat; it's being called the "mother of all bombs."

ETA we always used to joke about how, if any of our members ever wandered into the kitchen by accident, we wouldn't have any members
I do like the idea of country clubs existing solely to rip off dumb, status-obsessed old money folks.

For those who can't afford to go to space, traveling and seeing how other countries do things can provide some very clarifying perspective on the United States and our social and political problems in particular.

I'm guessing something big was about to be leaked to warrant this...

I may have misheard, but I think a talking head just described it as a "21,000 lbs. bomb."

Yeah, I thought they said 25,000 lbs... But what difference do 4,000 pounds of explosive ordinance make between enemies?
04-13-2017 , 12:58 PM
No need to worry, somebody showed 45* this video so now he understands the history of Japan:

Barbara Starr says 21,000 pounds, so I guess the other guy was wrong.

Starr: Trump is considering sending more troops to Afghanistan.

MOAB = Massive Ordinance Air Blast Bomb = Mother of all bombs

But, it was surely precision guided and didn't kill any babies.

Dumped out of the back of a cargo plane by parachute so not precision guided.

It weighs 22,600 lbs/10,300 kgs and has the explosive equivalent of 11 tons of TNT.
