I'm gonna hope, but I'd also bet against Trump trying to do a no-fly zone without Russian support. Whether we could manage it or not is really unthinkable. It would not be possible without an absolutely huge effort with lots of shot down planes, sunken ships, killed people and possibly nuclear annihilation.

Neither. Germany got rebuild pretty fast due to the Marshall plan and it being a industrialized country long before the war. As for Japan, it didn't have to rebuild that much and also was a industrial power before the war.

North Korea on the other hand is a country that isn´t even able to feed its people in peacetime. And the people got brainwashed for more then half a century, there is no viable infrastructure, no industry, and many things we just rarely know because the West doesnt care about NK at all.

The open secret is that nobody wants Kim to go, since nobody wants to feed 25 million starving North Koreans.

Well, even Iraq had 5M barrels a day of oil so they're probably even above NK in terms of potential for economic prosperity if they didn't have all the sectarian violence after Saddam died.

But I was moreso asking from a cultural/societal standpoint, not from a economic sufficiency vibrancy standpoint.

What is the psyche of their people? Will they feel liberated? Haven't seen much written on this. Like you said, there has been very little coverage of NK in the West for awhile now. Really since W included them in the axis of evil they have been largely off the public and journalist radar.

And when most people go there, they are completely kept from the horrific aspects of the country and just given propaganda.

It does kinda feel like Kim falls 1 way or another in the somewhat near future, just wonder what that makes the future of that country like. If I had to guess I'd guess he lives in exile or something rather than blaze of glory but who knows.

Even during this whole ordeal Trump continues to refrain from criticizing Russia, while his surrogates are finally forced to speak out due to mass political and social pressure. It feels to me like we're only 1 or 2 steps away from the **** hitting the fan for real. I've gone over a bunch of likely scenarios, and whether Trump is secretly working with Putin or not, WAAF. Just think about them for a sec.

In the meantime, Fox hosts and Trumpeters have been celebrating like Syria or North Korea actions were some huge victory for America, rather than the potential catalyst to a major war. They don't seem to realize how things could possibly go wrong when the world's pettiest, most vindictive counterpuncher is our military leader.

I clicked on the the live feed of Spicer giving his press briefing yesterday, and only listened for about 5 minutes, but the whole time he was talking about the strike in Syria and it sounded like something from North Korea. He was saying how every middle hit it's target perfectly and that it shows how strong and great the US military was, etc. I don't watch those briefings often, but is that the way they all are now?

Pretty much. Spicer comes out and spends about 5 or 10 minutes telling the world what great things Trump has done recently. Then there's a bunch of Q&A with reporters that goes something like...

Reporter: Trump did this thing wrong. Why?
Spicer: No he was right because he's POTUS and you're not.

Every once in a while he makes a giant mistake and winds up walking it back the rest of the day, or there may be a special guest secretary or general. But for the most part Spicer ties himself in knots the whole time trying to defend every move Trump makes.

The administration is really painting itself into a corner with this interventionist tough talk. I understand how they might be feeling their oats after symbolically bombing an airfield last week, but they are really setting Trump up to retaliate with moves he wouldn't ordinarily make had his ego not been on the line. The most amazing part is how a person who cares so little about his credibility cares so much about his reputation.
