I said before thay Syria is a terrible problem with no good solutions and I stand by that. I don't care what Trump does except for an invasion.

Yes it is very similar.

Less than zero. USA and Russia are not on the same team.

Um, it definitely matters what she says, it shows there is a bi-partisan support - this is an action of the deep state.

I really don't think Trump called this shot given what he was saying just a couple days ago.

And it conveniently will take over the news cycle so we won't hear about ... Russia investigation
This is sort of convenient for Trump in the short term, but only in the very short term. In the longer term, we still have all of the evidence of his and his teams' collusion with Russia. This means that the deep state can ALSO blackmail Trump into being the leader of this military action.

If it goes poorly (and it may even be designed to "fail" in some ways) then there is justification for impeachment that the public can actually comprehend.

This NYT article makes it look like he played a big part in calling the shot.

Yes he officially signed off on it.

However, I disagree that he's the brains.

While the combination of Bannon being removed from the NSC, Nunes stepping down, and this military strike could be the sign of a flailing president trying to prop up his ratings, I think combined with the statements from Hillary Clinton and H.R. McMaster (who is possibly the least Trump guy in the entire administration) lead me to think it goes much deeper than him.

Quote:
A military official said the attack was at the more limited end of the military options presented to Mr. Trump on Thursday by Defense Secretary Jim Mattis. The official said the strike was intended to send a signal to Mr. Assad about the United States’ intention to use military force if he continues to use chemical weapons.
The powers that be clearly want more to happen and this is just the beginning.

the moment when you realize the smartest guy in the admin is nicknamed "mad dog" and is telling trump to do military stuff and you're really conflicted as to if this is all good or bad. You think it's better than before but like...

Those america first friends would've trashed obama hard if he did the same thing.

@theballer

He's the President. He's the power now. Hillary Clinton can't use her private server to fire tomahawks and I'm pretty sure that McMaster can't either.

Just because Trump has spent 70 years blaming everyone else doesn't mean that he doesn't own his decisions here.
04-07-2017 , 01:30 AM
I'm not saying that Hillary Clinton pulled the trigger, just that she supports what is happening. Having her support it helps solidify our country because Trump's approval rating here is as low as it is.

Trump has no choice - there is enough evidence to charge him and his cronies with treason a thousand times if he doesn't do exactly as the deep state suggests.

edit: They may still do it when it is all said and done.

edit2: It would be exactly like saying GWB was the brains behind Iraq. Useful. Idiot.

Once Trump sees the bump a war time president gets in polls and has tasted blood...

At least it seems like the meeting with China's president went well today. Perhaps the situation with North Korea is going better? Am I wrong in that assessment?
04-07-2017 , 02:41 AM
i cant quite figure you out theballer

stay tuned for my very important assessment

Lol.

I hope you'll find that I simply want to get down to the real truth of things here.

The War in Iraq was one of the formative events in my mind that really got me interested in politics. I have seen a lot of similarities in the run up to this event, especially around the beginning of February this year, when it was publicly suggested in a Reuters article that "boots on the ground" might be necessary in Syria. Again, chemical weapons are the issue, similar with Hussein in Iraq. Things are much more complicated than what is presented as justification to the public.

This is all about control of land and resources (tons of fossil fuels and potential gas pipeline routes). Energy is the most important thing for fighting war because you need it to power stuff. If we don't control this land, Russia effectively does. Iran will be next.

remember when kushner omitted meetings with russians on those security clearance forms? That's one of those things you shouldn't be doing.

That was news today. Already forgotten.

to be fair, people investigating them arent forgetting anything about it.

It's their reputation. They were the only major news outlet I know of to show the beheading videos in their entirety on TV.

Attack is really being bigged up by the media but it really isn't much. Not quite as important as other stories.

Trump finally managed to change the media narrative, but he's lost a large chunk of the Breitbart commenters (Russians) and Rand Paul.

The outrage on the alt-right sites is quite amazing (ZeroHedge, Breitbart, The_Donald).

Now that Gorusch is all but confirmed will the GOP hang him out to dry and push for impeachment? Push is probably a strong word, not really try and stop it - probably a better phrase.

I hate zerohedge so much. They've been pimping Trump for 2 years and apparently expected something other than this to happen. Their political prognostication is topped only by their stock market acumen.

Cliffs: Zerohedge is a collection of morons who are being automated out of trading and basically hate the world as a result.
