The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns. The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns.

Having visited Walt Disney World many times I can assure everyone itt that James Gunn is not even a bottom 1000 Disney employee

BUT STILL, the question is what we do when the world presents us with people who are less than decent, people who make mistakes, who lack social grace, who have bad humor. We don't need to cheer on indecency but we may want to think strategically about how we police it.
If we're going to pretend that this forum matters, then policing it when you're inside the bubble is a good idea. Keep it in house.

I think the strategic tongue biting though is giving the audience way too little credit. Was there a popular outcry against Gunn? What actually happened with Sarah Jeong?

This is a lot of posting to dance around the fact that FLY is an awful human being. Just because he happens to hold leftist positions doesn’t make him less of an awful human being.

Also, it seems bizarre to me that nobody is talking about leading by example. Of course it matters how we talk about people if we want to be able to admonish those who call trans people “him” or black people “sons of bitches”.

It matters more, not less, when it’s an ally.

It’s not strategy for Christ sake. It’s basic human decency.

We are not going to convert trumpkins no matter how we act but we sure as hell are going to look hypocritical if we ignore behaviour in our house we would loudly admonish outside of it.

Not to mention, the entire point of so called tone policing is not how it effects the user or audience of the word. It’s how it effects the class of people with which the word is associated.

This is a pretty interesting comparison. I remember reading in like the Bush administration how activists from across the Republican spectrum (Jesus freaks, supply-siders, vote suppressors, coal bosses, immigration haters, etc.) would have weekly conference calls to coordinate strategy and have more specific meetings as needed. I don't think dem groups could do that. Hell, Kavanagh had 40k pages of emails spamming Heritage Foundation events from a Supreme Court Justices' wife. This occasioned a few thoughts: 1) that's a lot of emails going to a lot of people, 2) could that be a violation of anti-Spam laws (probably not), and 3) why can't we have that?

Above all else, and for a variety of reasons, not all of which I comprehend, the GOP is better at politics than the dems. They are consistently dealt bad cards (unpopular policies) and walk away with more than their fair share of the money.

edit: also literally guffawed at the dog. Took a hard look at the picture and thought, "what an unfortunate looking family", but did not notice the dog.

Wish the bot would filter out posting any tweets that contain "complete and total endorsement". Bots got me on tilt today.

He's a significantly better and more valuable poster than you.

In 10 years on 2p2 I never ignored anybody, but the bot is about to be the first. The President of the United States posts more than I do. Sad.

Man, probably worth noting as well that Simplicitus is one of the most valuable posters to this forum by far, IMO, and may contribute more valuable info in a very digestible way than anyone else. I respect the **** out of him and appreciate his posts. He didn't get Al Frankened up in here or dunked on, or anything else for the joke, he got a couple of words that seemed pretty damn respectful and mild, so it would be cool to cut the bull**** about the civil war.

100% agree. There should be a constitutional amendment requiring presidential tweets to include at least one qualification for every endorsement. Preferably regarding the candidates appearance or mental acuity.

I must be sheltered. I grew up in suburban Milwaukee and have lived in suburban Atlanta for nearly two decades and I don't think I've ever heard a white person use the n-word in normal conversation. I've heard racist things, but never the n-word just straight-up.
I lived in Atlanta for ten years, and I'm sorry to say I heard it way too often. The south has a lot of healing to do even today. They're still generations away from getting where they need to be.

I knew it was going to be Huckabee hound in the spoiler. Still laughed. I didn't know or had forgotten that Trump hates pets, especially dogs. I can understand fear of a big or aggressive dog, but hating dogs? No matter how bad I imagine Trump being, he's always worse.

I mean there could be childhood trauma involved, a mail delivery job, or whatever, so I don't blanket judge people who don't like dogs. But they get some extra scrutiny.

You think Trump might have at one time been a postman, and that's why he hates dogs?

That's fair. Trump goes so far as to use "dog" as an insult, though. Not like it's not already obvious, but something's not right with that guy.

Forget fly. Political correctness - making the effort to avoiding offense to vulnerable groups is just good. Getting it wrong is not some evil but few things require such little effort, have no downside and still makes a big difference.

kristen welker: can you guarantee we won’t hear a tape of the president using the n-word?

sarah huckleberry sanders: i can’t guarantee anything

me, first day as a reporter: can you guarantee we won’t hear a tape of the president pledging allegiance to isis?

sarah hillbilly sanders: sure, i can guarantee that, i mean let’s be realistic here

The N word on tape can legitimately end this thing.

She would say something like "That is a disgusting, ridiculous question. That anyone could believe that Donald Trump would ever pledge allegiance to ISIS is vile and you should all be ashamed of yourself" and that's what would get the media attention.

Dogs are a good judge of character. Pretty decent chance every dog he has met hated him.

LOL no they're not. Dogs are dumb as **** and will kiss anyone's ass if they feed them a few times. Cats, too, minus the ass-kissing.
