At worst it was a failed attempt at being glib, at best it was shorthand for "interfering in Guatemala or wherever else the United States has done so." Not really sure how you all are peering into Namath's secret inner heart, and he's got a good enough posting history here to deserve the benefit of the doubt, imo.

Hillary also spent a ****ton in campaign money and managed less of an impact a few million dollars worth of trolls did, look let's be real, someone that dumb being president would've been a bad thing, unfortunately she was running vs a guy who people think has dementia instead of realizing he's actually been that way his entire life.

So for everyone's next campaign it'll just be hiring internet trolls, WAAF.

The biggest problem with this discussion is how much is completely impossible to quantify. The comey letter certainly had more of an impact for instance too.

The long run problem is simply how dumb we are how easily memes just further deeply ingrain people.

We're supposedly smart but we fall for fake news sometimes too; the white supremacist shooter link was total bunk, the X shootings this year turned out to be pure propaganda (it's a massive stretch to get that number). (before RW's in here celebrate, fox is just straight lying 24/7 for the most part so shut up)

I'm tired of this bull**** but that's our society and I don't know what we can do about it.

trump: i don't want teachers to have guns. fake news cnn says i want teachers to have guns that's absolutely not true

[less than 1 minute later]

this won't happen if you have 10% of teachers with guns or 20% of teachers with guns

re: The Presidency of Donald J. Trump (aka David Dennison)

Quote:
Murray Hitzman could have had a long and distinguished career at the US Geological Survey. In September 2016, when he joined the USGS as head of its energy and minerals program, his name was being floated as a possible future director of the agency. But just 15 months later, he resigned in protest over what he saw as an effort by the Trump administration to undermine key USGS policies governing the disclosure of data from a study of oil and gas deposits in Alaska.

In his resignation letter, obtained by Mother Jones, Hitzman said he was leaving the USGS because the agency had agreed to provide Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke with data from the Alaska energy assessment “several days in advance of the information’s public release, in contradiction of my interpretation of USGS fundamental science policy.”
Quote:
By late 2017, political appointees within the Interior Department, including deputy secretary David Bernhardt, were insisting that if Zinke asked to see the prepublication data from the Alaska study, the USGS would have to provide it, according to several sources with close knowledge of the situation.

At a tense meeting on Friday, December 15, Bernhardt argued that the USGS guidelines didn’t actually prohibit such a disclosure and insisted that the secretary could see the data whenever he wanted, according to a source with knowledge of the incident. Bernhardt, a former energy industry lobbyist and George W. Bush administration official, added that the USGS could ask Zinke to sign a non-disclosure agreement if necessary, this source said.
Quote:
“The problem…with asserting that authority—even if it legally exists—is that the purpose of those internal USGS policies is to preserve the reputation of the USGS as a purveyor of objective science,” Elizabeth Klein, who served as associate deputy secretary at Interior during the Obama administration, said in an email. “Once you start injecting political officials into the process of developing scientific assessments, you raise serious questions about the objectivity of the science.”
Seems like that would very easily open up the perception, if not the actual practice, of the natural resources equivalent of insider trading and/or making adjustments to the data for political reasons.

Virtually none of them can be trained to be adequate shooters in a shootout, same goes for cops, same goes for the vast majority of humans. I'd imagine it's because it's too nerve wracking, and shaky hands don't make for accurate shots. And lol @ nerdy science teacher, they're all nerdy! As if English teachers would be any better.

Have the kids been duped already? I don't see them falling for anything, and it's not a long shot that some of them will dedicate their lives, professionally or otherwise, to giving Republicans and the NRA hell. When that young survivor said that they're coming after those beholden to the NRA, I believed her.

I mean, if the point is to lob Greenwaldesque "HYPOCRITE!" bombs at me because my level of concern over US meddling in the affairs of other nations is much lower than my concern with Russia meddling in US affairs, like I said, point conceded, I'm definitely guilty of that. But I'm not randomly ****ting on Guatemala for the hell of it. (Unless one considers that me caring less about Guatemala than the US counts as ****ting on Guatemala in which case yeah I guess I am). I don't mind being Criticized on the Internet by Strangers but it irritates me when people not named Kreskin pretend to be mind readers.

I hope you are right but history says the Rs will run out the clock or change the conversation in a way that nothing meaningful ever happens. In other words I'll believe any of this making a difference when I see it. I think what the kids are doing is fantastic obviously I guess I am just very cynical about the possibility of anything meaningful happening. The R and NRA playbook has been very effective historically.

trump: "[NRA] actually came up with certain regulations that we have now"

yeah no **** that's the problem people are pointing out

trump is on tv fantasizing about general kelly teaching a history class to kids with a concealed firearm on his hip. and that in itself would prevent a school shooting

The school staff would have radios. Encrypted channels obv. Look you don't need to worry about the details. The government will put out a contract, it will be sole source awarded to Trump's former bodyguard, and everything will be fine.

Meh, if the pace at which these shootings are occurring through the first two months of 2018 does not subside then the NRA/GOP don't have any hope of this conversation falling out of the news.

Pretty much sunk his shot at beoming President with that. All any opponent has to do is show him getting lit up by teenagers at that town hall meeting to establish his incompetence.

It is different. This time it looks like you'll finally get rid of the evil "gun free zones" law.

Every time a shot is fired a red dot will appear on the teacher's HUD indicating where the shooter is located.

Hupp later expressed regret about deciding to remove her gun from her purse and lock it in her car, lest she risk possibly running afoul of the state's concealed weapons laws; during the shootings, she reached for her weapon but then remembered that it was "a hundred feet [30 m] away in my car."
Thus proving nothing idiot.

Thus, what Risen did to Greenwald.

What? Son you're slipping back to ole Confederacy defending Klan avatar days with this ****. Remember when you said you weren't aware of the content of Greenwald's appearances on Carlson until yesterday? That shoulda set off that "oh maybe it's not opinion sharing time for me then" red light.

People who don't encounter Greenwald's more moderate statements will be lead to believe that Greenwald thinks Russia is a hoax with no evidence. This is readily apparent from reading his twitter mentions which inevitably devolve into Russiagate fan fiction vs. Breitbart reader flame wars.

Risen was generous on this point. It's pretty clear Greenwald isn't just being a bad communicator on this, he's openly disingenuous. He's ikesing.
I mean yeah I don't watch ****ing Tucker and Fox news, but I do read Greenwald. Reading his actual articles and missing his, uh, Fox News appearances seems pretty reasonable yo. It's like the opposite of ill-informed. So people who see Greenwald on Fox news are going to get misled? NO ****, THEY'RE ALREADY WATCHING FOX NEWS! Again, not that Greenwald should go on Fox News and criticize the Mueller investigation, that's bad and I won't defend it.

I'm not completely convinced they even want it out of the news. They are desperate and vulnerable this election year, and they know it. Nothing drives the idiots in their base to the polls like THE GUN GRABBERS ARE COMING TO GRAB YOUR GUNZ!!!
