The Wikipedia page jman linked links to IARD wiki page that says:

Quote:
Preparation:

IARD exposes regular officers to increased risk, and is made possible by additional training and equipment.[2] Officers may be provided with additional body armour, including helmets and ballistic shields,[3] to be used at the crisis scene and not during regular duties. The equipment must be easy to put on: excessive time spent gearing up may forestall a decisive intervention.

And later under Rationale:

However, as many schools have developed lock-down protocols in the wake of incidents such as Columbine, the increased risk posed by IARD may become inappropriate in such cases where the venue itself has already contained the shooter's movements and reduced the number of exposed targets in their locked down posture.
Again, even armies, including crack teams like SEAL and US Army Rangers don't tell soldiers to go in an unknown situation alone without additional intel. A policy that demands civilian officers to jump into unknown situations without backup and without regard for his personal safety defies common sense.

This is a super stupid point to concede because if you concede that the officer could have done something, then the real solution, which is to ban AR-15s, immediately gets off the table (politically) and we get into this stupid situation where we're asking SROs, whose primary job descriptions, as linked earlier, are basically telling them to be police mascots at school and almost certainly lacks regular training in the use of his firearms, and probably self-selected into jobs that are less likely to get him shot at, to become heroes. It's a stupid solution.

To put differently, you concede this stupid point and the NRA will say it's the coward's fault and the solution is to give teachers more guns so someone can be the hero. Which is just stupid for reasons already mentioned in the thread.

What we need is banning AR-15s and other assault weapons (and dumb mass produced tools to modify semi-autos to autos) so that the damage is limited AND that the officers feel safe enough to act when 2 more deputies showed up.

Wouldn't murdering Manafort be very bad pr for Russia/Putin?

His stock with trump would go up for being a strong leader.

Well they wouldn't plant a Russian flag or anything. Manafort would likely stab himself in the back 10 times with a suicide note that read "NO FOUL PLAY. I did it for the insurance money (before Mueller confiscates the policy) because my properties are worthless and I can't leave my family a 300k Visa bill."

Perhaps, but that hasn't stopped him in the past. Granted, murdering a US national on US soil is going to attract way more attention.

Manafort is looking at several decades in prison if convicted, and with a case that's this high profile a federal prosecutor isn't going to **** around with charges that aren't rock solid.

Something about this seems weird. The Coral Springs PD is on the same road as the school. It's probably 2-3 miles away if not closer. How did BSO get deputies there first?

Hmmm. I don't know. It is weird though. Maybe it was a jurisdictional thing. Does Parkland have its own PD? Would be unusual for Coral Springs Police to respond to a crime not in their city...wouldn't it? Maybe there's a cross-boundary agreement.

Ivanka is the obvious choice to brief them on the sanctions. She has a handbag design company after all.

Let me get this straight. Manafort wanted to cheat a PDF financial statement to make it look like he earned more money. Manny don’t know how to edit the PDF (lol olds). Manafort sends the PDF to Gates email. Gates converts the PDF document to a Word doc. Gates sends the Word to Manafort email. Manny frauds the Word. Manafort sends the fraud Word to Gates email. Gates converts the fraud Word to fraud PDF. Gates sends the Fraud PDF back to Manafort email. Manafort uses the fraud PDF to secure a loan?

The school is like 500 feet from Coral Springs boundary. I think BSO is called in Parkland. But Broward County is big. If I were at the school and needed the cops, I'd call the CSPD knowing it's down the road. But yea maybe it's a juridical thing.

I check foxnews.com about every other day to see what they seem to find important. I can't see anything on there now about Gates or Manafort, it's all about the FBI and police failures with the school shooting.

Guess who is the “unnamed Congressman” in the indictment? My favorite and yours...

Dana Rohrabacher!

I love how the Mueller stuff often happens on Friday afternoon. It's like he's trying to ruin Trump's weekends on purpose.

I see Trump hasn't gotten any better at being POTUS since I last posted. I mean, he's starting to learn how to act more covertly and personally benefit more from his position, but performing the job as described -- epic disgrace.

Poor poor America. Are we a country of bears on unicycles yet, or does that take place in 2019?
Always good to have a good thread contributor return. Wasn't there someone else that used to post here all the time that dropped out of sight?

Did anyone understand what Trump meant when he said, “I’ve been to Vietnam” today??

Seems like a sketchy statement for a draft dodger.
