Any chance they are telegraphing their intent to trial balloon/distract/reduce the impact of the actual action when they take it?

It will get released in some form, whether it's officially via the DOJ, subpeonaed by Dems if they take over the house or leaked by someone.

Meh NPR reported this as well and they usually don’t fail. I’d be surprised if he’s still there by the end of the day.

We have been over this. This is stupid watergate. This may end up having the effect you described, but this is not 4d chess.

It's not ****ing 4D chess dude. It's basic ****. Every Trump slappy has been thinking nonstop for the last year how to get rid of Rosenstein while minimizing the obvious comparisons to Nixon.

God I ****ing hate the New York Times so ****ing much

Distraction from the #BelieveSurvivors walkout? Walkout begins minutes from now.

Distraction from Kavanaugh being outed as a sexpred? Rosenstein now to meet with trump on thursday, same day as the hearing, for more distraction.

I get that, but as ATC said, it's not all that brilliant. There is a difference between tactics and strategy. Say what you will about the near boundless incompetency of the admin, but sledgehammer propaganda is not chess. Firehose lying to sew confusion and distrust is their MO, and it is foolish to ignore how well it is working for them up to now.

McConnell could of course end this whole circus immediately by having a vote on the Protect Mueller Act, which was already voted out of committee.

Separately, any 2 of of the Flake/Corker/Collins dip**** concerned caucus could say “no judges for you until we vote on the Protect Mueller Act.”

Complete and utter pieces of ****. All of them.

Since Trump is too scared to fire anyone face to face all Rosenstein has to do is compliment him on Thursday and he'll keep his job.

Leave it to the New York Times, the supposed media voice of the resistance, to publish the ammunition necessary to fire Rod Rosenstein.

Outlets like WaPo and NYT love having Trump in office. He has been very profitable for them. But when he finds a way to elect himself dictator for life they will be no more.

I know we rightfully **** all over NPR from time to time here, but if you can find it, go and listen to the interview Michael Schmidt (NYT article writer) did with one of the All Things Considered people on Friday. He's going hard to the paint to defend the article, and the interviewer asks at one point something along the lines of "Does it trouble you that the article relies on second-hand knowledge of what was said?" Schmidt errs and uhs like someone who just walked into a room and found Chris Hansen standing there. It's brilliant.

Also

Yeah and McConnell's wife works directly for Trump (which is, apparently, just fine and totally not-corrupt) so expecting ANY oversight out of him is a fool's errand

I mean I'm sure Elaine Chao has forgotten more about "transportation" than most of us could ever know in many lifetimes, but would it be too much to ask for them to get someone to sit in that chair who isn't MARRIED to the goddamned Senate Majority Leader for ****'s sake???

Spoiler:
butnahh that's literally why she was given the job

All that matters is this quarter's profits, who cares about 2 years from now?

Is it possible that the WH was just "testing the waters" trying to get Rosenstein to leave voluntarily?

Rosenstein shows up as requested but is not willing to resign, so now compliant Trump leak stenographers are stuck holding the bag of ****.
