From a macro perspective what exactly do we hope to accomplish? We are retaliating against Assad for gassing his own people by...killing Syrians? That makes next to no sense. Then again that has pretty much been our foriegn policy since long before most of us were born.
+1

Also, we dont even have conclusive evidence that it even happened, and much reason to believe it may have been staged. The rest of the world seems to think it was a false flag, as well as Syrian hospitals claiming there were no wounded patients coming in etc.

If you think this stuff doesnt happen, I suggest you check these videos out.

imo this is about Iran's position in the region getting too strong. the West has no leverage/control over the situation now and the West's position is very weak. this is unacceptable for Israel... and the U.S. being Israel's ***** leads us to the beginning of some serious **** about to go down once again in the ME.

I figured that someone just leaked it to Fox and Friends. I guess the information flow is not entirely a one way street.

Yeah man Trump is known for religiously watching Maddow and has a track record of trying to impress her.

A smart guy trying as hard as he can, everyone! He's struggling, but what can you expect?

hahaha right, I'm sure that Trump is totally unfamiliar with the criticism that he is a puppet of Putin.

This has to be good for poker, no?

p.s. Keed gets a few redemption credits for posting a Randy gif. I didn't read the actual post, so not sure if he came out ahead or not.

edit: Update: nevermind, he's already fallen behind again.

obv this was the key line in the speech:

open-ended. just the way Bolton et al. want it.

"Precision-guided strikes" and "high-grade intelligence" are a couple of phrases getting a lot of air time once again.
04-13-2018 , 09:56 PM
Exactly my thoughts how do we know they have permanently stopped? Obviously we can't so it just allows us to bomb away indefinitely.

Yup... How will Congress react if he tries to violate the War Powers Act? Will he go for an AUMF? I doubt it...

Doubt they'll do anything about it, either. It helps the GOP in Congress as much as it helps him. This will be a huge boost for the GOP in generic Congressional polling.

Also if the rebels have chemical weapons it gives them veto power on continuing the attacks or not.

Always surprised when a new conspiracy dude comes in here and has more than like, 40 posts.

I still don't understand how indirect firing can be prevented. Let's say Trump does the following:

1. Trump fires guy who recused himself.
2. Trump appoints new guy who won't recuse himself.
3. New guy shuts it down and/or fires of the career prosecutors that put up resistance.

Seems like it would be difficult to prevent.
I would assume that civil service rules preclude firing without cause. Whether or not a new appointee could or would shut down the investigation I do not know.

Call me crazy but im ok with allied coalition strikes against anyone who used chemical weapons on children.

Think peoole are overthinking this and the reasons can actually be taken at face value.
