Pretty strong words.

Can someone explain to me why the whole issue of whether Trump can fire Mueller is even a question?

If I'm not mistaken, when it was Nixon's turn, even he knew he couldn't fire the special prosecutor. He had to get someone else to do it. Is that part at least agreed upon. In other words, when people say, "Trump should fire Mueller", do they really mean that Trump should keep firing DOJ people until one agrees to fire Mueller or do they literally mean that Trump should do the firing himself.

If the latter, then what exactly prevented Nixon from doing that.

Also if it's questionable, can Mueller just say, "lolno you can fire me" and carry on. What's Trump going to do to get the firing to stick. Go to court against Mueller? That's not going to end well.

Chris Cillizza sucks so hard. It's a ****ing joke that he has a platform. How can this possibly be the frame for the lead article on CNN?

"I scanned through all of the available [Comey] excerpts and plucked out the lines that are most devastating for Trump. Then I ranked them by level of damage they are likely to cause. Here they are, ranked from least to most problematic for the President of the United States."

I assume that most people who say that Trump should fire Mueller are assuming that he would have to do it indirectly the way Nixon did.

Lol Cohen had fixed a deal for a republican fund raiser who got a playboy playmate model for $1.6 million.

It’s what that guy seemed to do primarily. Also it’s funny how tiny all Trump’s numbers are, I guess Trump is the best negotiator. (Or he is cheap and/or poor).

I have a theory that Dvaut1 was kidnapped by Russia to tweak poconoder's subroutines. It seems like his game is overall stronger lately but there are still some glitches. Possibly these are signals from Dvaut, like a sneaky middle finger or blinking in Morse.

Interesting. I was assuming the opposite even the the indirect method is something everyone agrees he could do. It's just that the way a lot of people talk about it makes it sound like they think Trump could bust out a "You're fired" and be done with it.

Do we know Elliot Broidy is not another Trump alias?

Edit, ok wsj says he's real lol.

Cohen also used David Dennison and Peggy Peterson as the pseudonyms in the Broidy agreement, he couldn't even bother to think of 2 new names lol

I should have said "most commentators and reporters". Low-info Trump supporters on social media probably assume that their god-king can do whatever he wants.

We all know Trump is a cowardly piece of **** who'll do it by Twitter anyway so Mueller just has to log out before so and he'll be fine.

Trump issues pardon to Scooter Libby, former chief of staff to Vice President Cheney
President Trump on Friday issued a pardon to Lewis “Scooter” Libby, a former chief of staff to Vice President Richard B. Cheney who was convicted of perjury and obstruction of justice in connection with the leak of a CIA officer’s identity.

“I don’t know Mr. Libby,” Trump said in a statement, “but for years I have heard that he has been treated unfairly. Hopefully, this full pardon will help rectify a very sad portion of his life.”

If Trump called Mueller and told him to GTFO, there's a good chance Mueller says "I'm not picking this fight, cya". Remember that Sarah Sanders said a couple days ago "The President believes he has the authority to fire Mueller."

The 4d chess move would be for Mueller to leave quickly without pointing out to Trump that Rosenstein has to fire him. If Rosenstein stays in iffice, he just appoints a quality replacement and Trump takes the political damage of firing Mueller.

What chills me at the moment was the last time POS Comey stuck his size 17 Boots where they weren't needed we ended up with Trump as President - the worst possible outcome for his 'we might look at Hills email again' lark. Where is this ending?

"i've never met mr manafort in my life, but i stayed in a holiday inn express last night, so i'm issuing a full pardon. now get out of the country, buddy, you probably only got 2 or 3 hours"

Libertarian who always puts me on tilt:

"Prediction: We will go to war with Syria (and maybe Iran or even, God help us, Russia), if Trump shows any hesitation or restraint he will be accused of working for Putin, the Dems will retake the house in the fall, the Dems will not call off the war and will likely find some way to escalate this insanity even further.

This is going to spin completely out of control, and a lot of people are going to die needlessly. If there were a diabolical coterie of wealthy warmongers trying to steer our society towards catastrophic war, the "Trump works for Putin" story would be their most elegant maneuver. Full on Jedi Mind Trick. People's hatred for this clown has maddened them to the point where if he were to avert World War 3 they would see it as absolute final proof that he really has been working for Putin all along. It is a beautifully trap for the mind.

The way you make a lie stick isn't to tangle it up with the truth. You make it stick by tangling it up with a lie the people you're lying to are already telling themselves. If your lie affirms their lie, they will struggle to spot it without unraveling their own lie, and few will risk that because there's a reason they're lying to themselves in the first place."
