Deplorables are used to arguing their crazy far-far-right bat****tery vs. mealy-mouth centrist establishment Dem positions. So of course we agree to settle somewhere in the middle. And then the derposphere stakes out an even further right position the next day.

Then someone like AOC comes along - who's still nowhere near as left as they are right, and whose positions would have been bog-standard 40 years ago - and it just blows their minds to smithereens.

Wait what? You can't say that. You can't say rich people should be taxed at 70%. We're having an argument about 36.2% top tax rate vs. eliminating progressive taxation altogether - because we don't understand marginal tax rates - and why don't we just raises taxes to 100% chessmate - and we're pretty sure it's just robbing from my rich uncle that I wish I had to give to lazy minorities.

How are we supposed to process 70%? Can you really say that? Did she just say that and not get hauled away by men in white coats?

It's basically the flip side of the **** that comes out of Trump's mouth. Except again - her positions actually make sense and would be standard 40 years ago - whereas you have to go back to like the 1820s for Trump's.

The funniest part is the derposphere is wasting all their Hillary hate spigot on her, and she can't even run for a while. I'm sure on some level strategically they know it's bad to keep focusing on her, but they just can't help themselves. It's too tasty for them.

I was searching for, and found, this tweet on this subject:

But in the process came across an absolutely shocking tweet:

https://twitter.com/peterdaou/status...95644383506432

LOL what (if you don't recall, this is the Verrit guy, suuuuuuuper in the tank for Hillary)

Goddamn, writers are on their A game bringing in Peter Daou from way back in Season 1 to do a face turn —who saw that coming?
01-09-2019 , 01:39 AM
he's now referred to as chairman daou. he's been honestly really really good for the last 2 years. you have to decide whether support for mother hillary just temporarily broke his brain or he just read the tea leaves for where the democratic party is heading. he's basically been a generic dsa guy since nov 8. if you twitter search chairman daou, you'll find a lot of his tweets

Trump undercuts his own messaging by trying to fundraise off the border “crisis”

Quote:
But hours ahead of his primetime Oval Office address about the situation at the border and his wall, Trump’s campaign is also using the speech to try to raise $500,000 in a single day.

“Your safety is not a political game or negotiating tactic,” an email blast sent to potential donors says. “Please make a special contribution of $5 by 9 PM EST to our Official Secure the Border Fund to have your name sent to me after my speech.”
01-09-2019 , 02:47 AM
Shuts down the government and stops paychecks from going out to hard-working government employees, many of whom are paycheck to paycheck, to try to get $5.7 billion for a wall that 60% of Americans don't want. Tells aforementioned employees to barter for rent by offering to paint the building and such.

Then tries to raise $500,000 off of it for his own campaign coffers.

But at least he's not wearing a ****ing tan suit, am I right?

Jesus christ how is Trump not laughing his ass off behind closed doors at being able to use his hyped-up oval office speech to run that "Official Secure the Border Fund" grift? This link has excerpts that are LOL:

https://deadline.com/2019/01/donald-...wn-1202531544/

“We need to raise $500,000 in ONE DAY,” the email reads. “I want to know who stood with me when it mattered most so I’ve asked my team to send me a list of EVERY AMERICAN PATRIOT who donates to the Official Secure the Border Fund,” stated the Trump-signed memo. “Please make a special contribution of $5 by 9 PM EST.”

EVERY. AMERICAN. PATRIOT. Goddamnit FIST PUMP on those.

Also:

"Trump, in an email sent to his base Tuesday afternoon, asked for donations to his “Official Secure the Border Fund” through the Trump Make America Great Again Committee. That’s a joint fundraising committee for the Trump campaign and the RNC."

I think he could pick out Greenland if it was colored green and no other country was colored green (look, look at that one, we should call that one Greenland). Other than that, there is absolutely zero chance he could pick it out. The over/under on the number of US states he could pick out has to be in the 30's.

Schumer and Pelosi have no passion because they really don't believe what they're saying.

The same lobbyists buy both parties. They're just a different shade of conservative.

AOC legit believes in what she says and has no qualms dropping bombs.

Should I be as concerned as I am about this headline:

Rosenstein plans to leave Justice Dept. shortly after Barr confirmed

https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/09/polit...ent/index.html

FML. Wtf, why step down?

Countries is still 5.5

States has to be around 9.5

The guy is a ****ing moron. You think he’s picking out Connecticut or Wyoming on a blank map you are crazy

I’m sure NY FL CA TX MI types are easy

But after that?
01-09-2019 , 08:08 AM
You could definitely throw Trump off by coloring one place on the map, like Madagascar, green.

i don't trust him at all and think he's probably just an opportunist who can tell which way the wind is blowing, but maybe not. and either way, if he's putting ideas like this out there to his audience of hillary centrists, that's good. so yea the daou is kinda ok now, at least until he becomes bad again.
01-09-2019 , 08:23 AM
He's plainly kind of a weirdo though, not the guy you want to be any kind of voice for the movement. But if he's on board, sure, why not.
01-09-2019 , 08:43 AM
I guess once Barr gets confirmed and doesn’t recuse himself, he will take over Mueller investigation thus Rosenstein won’t be doing that either way.

It’s just so bad that Trump was able to get rid of Sessions solely because he wanted his own AG to control the Mueller investigation and now he is getting away with getting his own guy in there to control the Mueller investigation.

I think they gambled correctly that now that the House is controlled by dems, people wouldn’t be as outraged at a slow motion Mueller squashing

But we need the Mueller investigation to continue unimpeded.
01-09-2019 , 08:45 AM
Like if congress was even an iota of checks and balances, they would have insisted any new AG has to recuse themselves and let Rosenstein remain in control since Trump said his reason for firing Sessions was to control this investigation.

I mean, how is this not obstruction of justice?
