I hate to be all tinfoil hat guy but this is exactly how you get from a democracy to dictatorship. You need “middle steps” like this emergency mislabeling. It looks enough like normal practice to placate the masses but awards massive new powers never before used in this manner. Even if he doesn’t do it he gets to shift the Overton window even further making the next massive power grab more palatable.

Trump's top advisor Hannity was calling for Trump to call a national emergency to build the wall today. So it is definitely on the table.

Declaring a national emergency doesn't necessarily solve Trump's problem of how to pay for the wall. He will have a hard time raiding money earmarked for other agencies, etc., without losing in court.

But as I said this morning, I take seriously his threat that he may try it. I predict that tomorrow night will be an attempt to whip his base into a frenzy about the brown menace. He will allude to his authority to declare a national emergency but he won't actually do it. He will make that decision after assessing the reaction of congressional Republicans to his speech.

Ive said it for almost 2 years but expecting LOLMueller to do a damn thing to stop what is about to become all of our collective realities is dumb AF. Ive protested when given the chance but we should have all been in the streets a long time ago.

There is like a 20 percent chance america is over as we know it at 9pm tomo. Even if not it is soon to be over once rbg goes. Truly scary times.
