The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: Harm to Ongoing Matter The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: Harm to Ongoing Matter

One thing not getting near enough coverage is that the Mueller report is a massive vindication for the press. Everything reported over the past two years, all of which was called lies by Trump, turns out to be completely true.

These lawbros thinking that the law is sacred are pathetic. If two years of this hasn't changed their cult-like mentality then nothing will. This is post-fact America. The Executive Branch has way too much power and is exploiting it to overpower a cowardly Congress and cooperative Judiciary.

Nothing matters anymore. Not morals, convictions, and definitely not the law. Sucks that you spent your entire life defending it as something worthwhile.

Waiting for people do die is such a terrible take that I see in this forum over and over.
let's wait nazis to die!
why are there still nazis around? are they all 100 years old?
ideas are more resilient than people.

Old white racists with money don't die young unless somebody makes them. I'm convinced that hatred is some neverending life force that keeps them from dying.

Kissinger is nearly 100 for ****'s sake. Trump might not make 100 but he's a dog to dying before the 2020 elections.

This is wrong. Simplictus is right in putting his faith in the law. He is wrong in thinking right wing judges will all of a sudden West Wing us to salvation.

Bottom line is this. The left in America got beaten badly with respect to the judicial branch. The right has been working their asses off for decades to stack the courts and have made it a clarion call for their base. The left basically ignored it until a couple months before a SCOTUS seat came open.

The law is the path to long term victory but it will take a **** load of work and a decade to reverse the rights gains.

We gotten beaten bad on this battlefield. It’s time to actually realize it’s a fight.

Yeah.... except he didn't break any laws....LOL

Those justices and judges aren't dying anytime soon. A lot of us won't be alive to see the damage done in this term be undone.

If 2020 goes to Trump, then all bets are off. There'll be no way to stop that stone from rolling down the mountain. At that point, we're pretty much Russia.

That’s not what it says.

Mueller concluded he couldn’t charge trump because of the stupid justice dept memo. Part two of the report documents a bunch of crimes or attempted crimes by trump. Most of the time the only reason he didn’t get to commit blatant obstruction was because his staff just straight up ignored him. That’s always a good trait in a commander in chief!

You may be correct that the pipeline of highly qualified and credentialed right wing lawyers is drying up, but it’s still going to be a very long time before you see any results of this. These “hacks” are going to be on the bench for 40 years each. They will pick clerks who align with their viewpoints, and shape their districts with their opinions and local practices that entire time.

It will be 75 years before a clerkship with the Scalia/Thomas—Alito/Kav/Gorsuch line and their lower court progeny fades out. And in the meantime that credential is a golden ticket to money and prestige for a young lawyer. There are no shortage of people who are going to dedicate themselves to that, even if the H/Y/S crop steadily declines.

Speaking as a early 30s attorney in a very conservative area, there definitely does not seem to be a shortage of people my age who are set up to follow in the Barr footsteps. There’s a huge gulf between Barr and Miller in terms of traditional qualification, we’ll all be dead by the time there are truly no other alternatives between.

LOL you sweet summer child.

If there aren’t any right wing hacks at Harvard, they aren’t going to start picking the liberal Harvard guys. They’ll start pulling from Liberty Law or whatever toilet trash law school becomes fashionable for deplorable scum.

Hopefully it is clear at this point that actual legal qualifications mean nothing to the right. Their only litmus test is ideology.

Yeah ... I have a life of some sort and aren't going to read 440 odd pages of whatever when the conclusion by the bosses that hate Trump was nothing was actionable.

Feel better now...

I for one am waiting with bated breath for the specter of hours of endless coverage of Jerrold (Jabba the Hut) Nadler an his judiciary Committee coming up with Articles of Impeachment which will pretty much guarantee four more years of Trump!

And please dear God if any of you fellas have photoshop skills could someone please photoshop that classic Star Wars scene where Jabba has Princess Leia on a chain and swap in Nadler and Ivanka?

Trump's head might actually asplode.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

Mueller is a Republican appointed by a Republican (Rosenstein) who was appointed by Trump.

Rosenstein was only in that position because another Republican appointed by Trump (Sessions) recused himself.

Thery're trying to do this with the Antonin Scalia school of law at Gerorge Mason, funded by the Kochs. Thing is, everyone knows it's a joke. They'll still get some Monica Goodlings at the DOJ, but it's a retreat because they have less and less pull in the real world.

Part of my "rose colored" view is that I grew up in Orange County, CA and saw it changing a long time ago. I've heard judges in So. Cal. insult Trump and people would look at you like a some kind of freak if you supported him in most professional settings. I figure the wind will blow to OH within 10 years, and maybe 30 for the South.

McGahn is a law bro. He ignored Trump's order to fire Mueller solely because of his lawbroness and desire to stay out of prison after being targeted by other law bros.

Of course he could have easily charged "everyone" who did the actual lawbreaking that wasn't the president..... if any actually existed.... but you know what happened..... crickets......

Grasping at straws has become an art form here. Words are parsed nicely, too

And the actual lawyers working the case, were they all republican hacks , too. It is pretty funny how Saint Bob became a partisan hack when he couldn't fulfill your Onanistic fantasies.....
