I should probably bookmark that on my phone just in case I need to pull it up in a hurry in 2021.

You laugh now... He's probably only a sexual assault allegation or a sponsor protest over white nationalism away from having his own prime time slot.

Do we have "generic D" polls right now? From what I recall, "generic X" polls a lot better than "specific member of X party".

Generic Ballot is +6D at the moment. It was +1.4R this time in 2011, which was off by +2.6D vs Final.

If they were interested in understanding politics at all they would already have a team they cared about enough to be well decided. So they will pick who to root for based on whatever the people close to them tell them their home team is and the uniform that they like best. I mean you take even the average left-leaning joe and tell them that there is no rule against taking meetings with Russians to get compromising info about an opponent, or setting up back channels, and in fact it is what every campaign does and they wouldn't know otherwise. I can see why it is a problem, but ffs, so is needing millions of dollars to fund a campaign and allowing corporations and lobbying groups to feed them and own the candidates and thus literally write the ****ing laws, and that is A-Okay.

For us real fans, we can rail if a ref missed the holding that allowed the other team to score, because we gotta, we just gotta. They will still get the ****ing points, though, even if we all can see it clearly on the replay.

The rules for the game are stupid af. Pretending it was ever about fairness or freedom or the American way or any of that **** is just stupidity at this point. The absurd and blatant contradictions to that are not new in the last 2 years.
The good thing is that the supreme tilt from absurd refereeing decisions in every sport has numbed/prepared us for this.

This is correct, there was another Gallup poll I found a reference to where Obama was 5% behind "generic Republican" but was ahead of any actual named candidates but the link didn't show any names. This is the article.

So basically generic Dem vs Trump is ahead of where generic R vs Obama was at this time in his first term? Should I delete my sarcastic bootlicking?

Nah, still may need to bookmark that **** for when they try to throw me in jail for protesting or GOTV efforts. Might confuse his cronies enough to let me escape.

I’d love to see research on this but I’d guess the correlation between polls at this point and presidential winner is like 0.15 or something.

Like, consider that a statement like "parties should come together and work out bipartisan solutions" probably has mainstream agreement in the Democratic Party, and like 1,000 people in the Republican Party who agree (and all live in suburban DC). Poisoning HRC worked because there was a ready audience for that stuff, but Trump is already radioactive to non-CHUDs, a little more poison isn't going to push them over the edge.
Well I don't know if Dems can win by not employing the same tactics. There's just a lot of people that aren't paying attention. Impeachment makes them think, "Oh wow, looks like Trump really did something wrong. I guess I won't vote for him again."

Plus it keeps Trump on defense and stresses him out. Maybe all that stress makes him eat himself to death. Or maybe he forgets to kill some brown people because he's tweeting about witch hunts. Lots of potential upside.

We can do this and still talk about free healthcare.

If impeachment occurs, it'll be 24/7 impeachment just like it was once 24/7 collusion with Russia. It and Trump's ranting/tweeting will block out messages on health care and taxes which resonate with people.

Almost as if trump plans it that way. No I do not want to be involved in a 2 page detail about 4d chess.

Have been on hiatus from 2p2 for the two months, but just wanted to pop in. Plan to go back and read the last 200 posts or so.

My main issue is whether to impeach Trump, because he should be impeached, or let him continue to drag the GOP down. This whole thing has been a profile in cravenness; exposing all the liars and grifters who populate the GOP and administration. Even McGann just wanted to get Gorsuch and his ilk confirmed.

That said, Barr should be the first mofo impeached.

Trump should eventually be imprisoned and then drawn and quartered. If he never spends a day in prison it will be a massive failure for USA #1.

Welcome back.

0% chance trump spends one minute in jail.

Trump is dead to rites on all kinds of financial crimes. Assuming the statutes of limitations will not have run by 2020, the only way he avoids prosecution is winning. Even he realizes this - gonna get ugly.
