Research on the topic is all over the place with ranges from 25-70%. Methodologies are all over the place and subject to the same serious limitations as all sex research.

I see no way in which failures in one sexual fidelity speak to a persons ability to be a politician except in the most broad way that it means they were dishonest. This is absolutely not the way it is EVER used. It is used to suggest that someone can’t be a politician because they don’t practice their relationship in the exact same way you do yours (you in the non-specific sense). It’s nothing more than sexual moralizing and nearly always rooted in conservative Christian moral frames.

The bottom line is nothing about a person sex life or relationship is useful in deciding who will be a good political figure (again with the obvious consent caveat). This doesn’t mean cheaters are not being *******s to their partners because they obviously are.
