I just don't see how this changes anything. People who support Trump claim Cohen is lying. People who are against him had everything they already knew confirmed.

Yup, I liked the part where Cohen said that when Trump bragged that "I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose voters" he wasn't lying... All those R clowns defending him will come out to say it's fake news that he killed someone, all evidence is fabricated by the deep state, etc, etc... and like 40% of the US will believe them. I don't think this state of the world where facts and the truth doesn't matter anymore will end well.

Cohen might be best served by straight up saying "yeah, I'm a scumbag, I was Trump's lawyer, that is pretty much a pre-requisite. My motives for being here are revenge, and if I tell another lie today, charge me with perjury again". That might have saved like 2 hours of non-questions already.
