I'm not sure left/right is the most useful dimension here. Trump is focused on his base and can't afford to lose much. Emergency declaration (henceforth hopefully to be known as the Trump ED) pacifies Hannity et al. and so safeguards the base for now. Senate Rs care most about longterm power/survival. Another shutdown now is a definite loser for them. With Trump ED, some of them grumble but probably follow Mitch to proclaim support now but later let Trump fight it out on his own in the courts (where he'll likely **** it up).

Trump just sounds like a terrible human being in general.

Quote:
I told him that bureau lawyers had assured me there was no legal issue with Comey coming home on the plane. I decided that he should do so. The existing threat assessment indicated he was still at risk, so he needed a protection detail. Since the members of the protection detail would all be coming home, it made sense to bring everybody back on the same plane they had used to fly out there. It was coming back anyway. The president flew off the handle: That’s not right! I don’t approve of that! That’s wrong! He reiterated his point five or seven times.

I said, I’m sorry that you disagree, sir. But it was my decision, and that’s how I decided. The president said, I want you to look into that! I thought to myself: What am I going to look into? I just told you I made that decision.

The ranting against Comey spiraled. I waited until he had talked himself out.

Toward the end of the conversation, the president brought up the subject of my wife. Jill had run unsuccessfully for the Virginia state Senate back in 2015, and the president had said false and malicious things about her during his campaign in order to tarnish the FBI. He said, How is your wife? I said, She’s fine. He said, When she lost her election, that must have been very tough to lose. How did she handle losing? Is it tough to lose?

I replied, I guess it’s tough to lose anything. But she’s rededicated herself to her career and her job and taking care of kids in the emergency room. That’s what she does.

He replied in a tone that sounded like a sneer. He said, “Yeah, that must’ve been really tough. To lose. To be a loser.”

This is such an idiotic decision.

Even if he does call a national emergency, the sheer amount of lawsuits and bureaucracy will prevent him from ever getting a single red cent for it before the 2020 election. Hell even if he does find some way to get the money and Congress/SCOTUS don't stand in his way, it'll take forever and a day to build given how disorganized this government is. I'd put the O/U at 10 years from breaking ground to project completion assuming that America still has elections.

A legal battle that is not resolved until the next election is what he wants.

Hannitaids said this almost nightly throughout the campaign and also beat nevertrumper Republicans over the head with it repeatedly

lol Trump doesn't know what he wants. Stop ascribing any action he takes with any semblance of a strategy or plan. You're giving him way too much credit.

There is nothing smart about this. The idea of Democrats abusing national emergencies is pretty much a nightmare for Republicans, especially since Trump is a dog against a random Democrat in 2020. If they decide to go this route with national emergencies, they'll have to either cancel or rig the 2020 election to avoid Democrats declaring a national emergency for UHC or GND.

Has Trump grown an inch at 72 years old?

Methinks that inch was added to his height to reduce his BMI.

The America political system is such a joke. How can anyone be proud of it.

The spending bill is over 1000 pages long. Congress had less than a day to read it before voting and the President will have just one more day.

That’s some serious deliberation.

Did Trump's doctor drink the kool aid and become a MAGA guy? He even is parroting Trump's language by saying "He has incredibly good genes, and it's just the way God made him." Sarah Sanders does the same thing by copying Trump's language and cadence as well.
02-14-2019 , 09:18 PM
Instead of losing 10 as doc recommended, he gained 4 lbs. This proves he's not a loser!
02-14-2019 , 09:18 PM
if you're mid 70s with no major health problems i think any doctor will say it's due to good genes, but the reason SHS is saying it is because she and trump are both nazis

Trump obviously has unbelievably good genes. Not a bad looking guy in his younger years, has treated his body like absolute dog **** for five decades, is probably close to morbidly obese‘, and has no real health problems that we know of.

I forgot to post this a week or two ago whenever there was that delay in his doctor visit, and it came up that stuff was surprising or there was a lack of patient heart health history, my theory is he hasn’t seen a doctor in his whole life. You can’t reach your mid-70s without having a super long medical history especially at his weight unless you flat out haven’t seen a doctor in decades.

Trump dictated what to say, just like he did with Ronny Jackson and just like he did with his hippie personal doctor
