re: The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: State of Emergency
He took credit for keeping Carrier plants open. He claimed he set Wisconsin up with Foxconn too.
When he can't figure out how to take credit for something... like Wynn's casinos, he's gonna pout and grudgingly nod.
He's been doing that for pretty much his entire life.
PS: he's gonna claim credit for the CA HSR when the first high-speed trains leave Bakersfield, not at all remembering what he tweeted today.

How hard would it be to program invisible barriers into the golf sim to prevent errant shots? Kind of like bumper bowling. Plus it would train trump on the idea of using invisible force fields instead of building a wall. That could be accomplished by a good press release and hiring a few Hispanic looking mimes to demonstrate.

Well, for one I wished the media or the population in general would understand that the refund amount has nothing to do with the actual total tax amount. Refund is based on your withholding, which can be easily changed by just filling out a form and sending it to HR, but yes, many people don't care about personal finance, and use a refund as "found" money which it isn't. It's literally money you could have every two weeks in your paycheck.
Assuming same income;
A: Would you rather have $10,000 in total tax, but withhold $15,000 and get a $5,000 refund? OR
B: Would you rather have $8,000 in total tax, but withhold $7,000 and owe $1,000.
I would choose B!
In regards to my personal taxes; my effective federal tax rate decreased even while earning more money in 2018. The largest net benefit for my personal taxes is the fact that the child tax credit income phaseout has been dramatically increased which enables me to actually to be able to claim it.
Per the tax plan calculator, the net benefit of TCJA is ~$3000/year for my personal finances.
http://taxplancalculator.com/
As an aside, I actually enjoy doing my taxes. I entered all the information in TurboTax once all the forms came in late January (although I wait until mid-Feb to actually file, I got burned on a late 1099 once).

As an aside, I do realize, in the grand scheme of things, that amount of tax savings is nothing. I have come to realize, that I have an interesting relationship with personal finance. And before it's, hurr durr awval blows his money, it's actually the opposite. It's trying to pay off the house by 40, retire by 55 and all of these ridiculous financial goals utilizing finances as security, when in the grand scheme, the feeling of security is fleeting. It is very interesting, that I felt richer in college, with a negative net worth, and no money whatsoever than I do now.

Many people choose to have the IRS save their money for them at 0% because they can't or won't do it themselves. It is very common. Don't think of the math/logic/personal finance/economics behind it, because it doesn't matter to them.
"Last year, I got back $X, but this year, I only got by $X-Y. F#ck [current president]!"

No one cares about your personal finance he only said your name because we think you are a joke for voting for a guy that raped women to save 2,000.

Has there been a Sklansky thought experiment exploring the formula by which one might calculate the optimum acceptable tax saving / human misery ratio yet?

Awval,
I’d gladly pay the $3,000 or whatever stupid amount you’ve saved in taxes to keep one baby out of jail. You’re fine with thousands of babies in jail. Without their parents. I’ll let the audience decide what that says about you.

The important thing is that the media get it right so that the public can appreciate what a good decision it was to vote for trump.

i can see trump as dog lover. maybe it was from dr. melfi on sopranos, but i heard really awful people have a soft spot for children and animals. like hitler or a mafia don. they can think "bad people hurt kids, so im fine". watching caligula now on history channel. loved his horse. was going to have him head the senate.

A totally subservient creature who shows unconditional affection despite how vile the owner is? Sounds right up his alley. I mean, that's what he turned don jr into.

McCabe will be spilling the beans on 60 minutes
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/andrew-...mp-60-minutes/
Quote:
"There were meetings at the Justice Department at which it was discussed whether the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet could be brought together to remove the president of the United States under the 25th Amendment," Pelley said. "These were the eight days from Comey's firing to the point that Robert Mueller was appointed special counsel. And the highest levels of American law enforcement were trying to figure out what do with the president."
|
Quote:
Pelley said McCabe confirms in their interview that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein offered to wear a wire in meetings with President Trump. Previously, a Justice Department statement claimed that Rosenstein made the offer sarcastically, but McCabe said it was taken seriously.
