A lot of these Democrats aren't very good at asking questions. Jordan is a piece of ****, but I had to respect how he didn't waste any time with pleasantries and went right into his questions. Like, Jackson-Lee wasted around a minute before getting her first question out. When you have five minutes, you know Whitaker is going to filibuster, and it's a matter of such importance, you can't waste time. Asking yes or no questions is a great plan, but you have to make them straight to the point - almost all of hers were confusing enough to make it unclear by the end which side was yes and which was no, which lets him filibuster. Then he pretends she was asking him about whether or not the time reset and answers that to waste more time, and she takes the bait and wastes another 30 seconds ripping him for that. Between that and her opening statement, she wasted 30% of her time.

It's honestly pretty inexcusable that the Dems haven't had like a trial attorney or someone of that ilk come in and coach them up on this, including prepping their line of questions with them - or better yet, just all yield all of their time to the best cross-examiner they can find.

Future Florida Senator Ted Deutch going in... Let's go!

Also it's clear from Whitaker's dodging and use of executive privilege in the 20 or so minutes I've been watching that he talked to the White House about the investigation before becoming Deputy AG but while in a role as a Chief of Staff to Sessions, because he's said he did not do it as a private citizen, but he keeps dodging about whether he did it before becoming Deputy AG.

My line of questioning if I had five minutes to grill Whitaker in this hearing:

1. Yes or no - were you aware as a private citizen that the president watches a lot of cable news? (It's been widely reported, press him if he says no.)

2. Yes or no - did you make cable news appearances and offer views that the probe should be shut down, de-funded or otherwise impeded?

3. Yes or no - as a private citizen did you talk to anyone in the White House, anyone you believed to be in the Trump circle, or anyone you believed would relay the information to the administration, White House or Trump circle about the Mueller investigation?

4. Yes or no - did you talk to any of those people about the Mueller investigation while interviewing for the job as Sessions Chief of Staff or as Sessions' Chief of Staff?

5. Yes or no - did you talk to any of those people about the Mueller investigation while interviewing to become acting Attorney General or as acting Attorney General?

6. (Assuming he used executive privilege on 4 and/or 5) Why did you have no problem answering the same question as a private citizen, but assert executive privilege as Sessions' Chief of Staff/Acting AG?

It's good to get these answers on the record very specifically.

"I deeply appreciate the question congressman and understand why this is such an important issue for you and I think it's important to give you a precise answer to this question. First of all, as I sit here today, I'm greatful to represent the great men and women of the Department of Justice who work tirelessly every day to keep hard-worling Americans safe. As you know, I was appointed as Acting Attorney General in December of the year of our lord 2018 by the President of the United States of America, Mr. Donald J. Trump in accordance with the Federal Vacancies Reform Act of 1998, which was passed by the House of Representatives by a vote of 333-95. Prior to that I had the great honor of serving as chief of staff under General Jefferson Beauregard Sessions, a man who I deeply admire and..."
