No. Those agencies aren't super awesome happy fun times good neighbors, but, they have been, by and large, apolitical and pro-american enrichment. This type of partisan hackery, directly targeting an individual on behalf (and probably at the behest) of a psychopaths hurt feelings, for public shaming, is below the bar of every democracy ever. It's current day Russia level kleptocracy. Trying keep an already wealthy man's potential business deals with a murderously hostile monarchy, out of the public's awareness, by blackmailing the owner of a newspaper, is the step below jailing/killing said owner and taking his assets under "state" control, i.e. Giving amazon to Ivanka and WApo to Bannon.

Can't watch live, but what's the reasoning behind this hearing? Guy has been there for like two months and new guy will be there very soon. There must be something important that I'm missing.

Russian-Style Kleptocracy Is Infiltrating America
When the U.S.S.R. collapsed, Washington bet on the global spread of democratic capitalist values—and lost.

American collusion with kleptocracy comes at a terrible cost for the rest of the world. All of the stolen money, all of those evaded tax dollars sunk into Central Park penthouses and Nevada shell companies, might otherwise fund health care and infrastructure. (A report from the anti-poverty group One has argued that 3.6 million deaths each year can be attributed to this sort of resource siphoning.) Thievery tramples the possibilities of workable markets and credible democracy. It fuels suspicions that the whole idea of liberal capitalism is a hypocritical sham: While the world is plundered, self-righteous Americans get rich off their complicity with the crooks.

The Founders were concerned that venality would become standard procedure, and it has. Long before suspicion mounted about the loyalties of Donald Trump, large swaths of the American elite—lawyers, lobbyists, real-estate brokers, politicians in state capitals who enabled the creation of shell companies—had already proved themselves to be reliable servants of a rapacious global plutocracy. Richard Palmer was right: The looting elites of the former Soviet Union were far from rogue profiteers. They augured a kleptocratic habit that would soon become widespread. One bitter truth about the Russia scandal is that by the time Vladimir Putin attempted to influence the shape of our country, it was already bending in the direction of his.
This is a great and must read, imo.

Well he refused to recuse himself from the Russia investigation despite ethics lawyers recommending he do so. Ask him if the white house told him not to. Ask him if he has been discussing the investigation with the white house.

He won't answer. Make him assert executive privilege, so at least the public perception is an admission.

Now I’m just a simple southern lawyer, but isn’t it true that Bruce Ohr and his lovely wife Nellie are biased against making America great again and are involved with a witch hunt including fisa abuse on the perfectly innocent carter page?
