I think even this is giving Trump too much credit. Conning suggest some kind of master plan. He is much more of the just don’t pay people you owe money than the devise some premeditated plan to grift money type.

He is simply not smart enough to be classic con man.

Apparently Trump used to know what the word "impart" means.

The problem has existed since the beginning of Trump’s presidency, the intelligence officials say, and for a time they tried to respond to the President’s behavior in briefings with dark humor. After a briefing in preparation for a meeting with British Prime Minister Theresa May, for example, the subject turned to the British Indian Ocean Territory of Diego Garcia. The island is home to an important airbase and a U.S. Naval Support Facility that are central to America’s ability to project power in the region, including in the war in Afghanistan.
The President, officials familiar with the briefing said, asked two questions: Are the people nice, and are the beaches good? “Some of us wondered if he was thinking about our alliance with the Brits and the security issues in an important area where the Chinese have been increasingly active, or whether he was thinking like a real estate developer,” one of the officials said wryly.

Let us revisit the map contest.

Quote:
In another briefing on South Asia, Trump’s advisors brought a map of the region from Afghanistan to Bangladesh, according to intelligence officers with knowledge of the meeting and congressional officials who were briefed on it. Trump, they said, pointed at the map and said he knew that Nepal was part of India, only to be told that it is an independent nation. When said he was familiar with Bhutan and knew it, too, was part of India, his briefers told him that Bhutan was an independent kingdom. Last August, Politico reported on president’s mispronunciation of the names of the two countries during the same briefing.

Jack Nicklaus being a deplorable is the least surprising thing ever.

To answer Trump's question though, there are no people if that means locals.

Between 1968 and 1973, the population was forcibly removed by the United Kingdom and the United States to establish an American base through intimidation of locals and denying the return of any who left the island.

As a Euro I've always thought that most US golfers are dicks. I'm too lazy to look it but, and my mind may be playing tricks on me, but I recall many years ago the US Ryder Cup team making a point of not posing for a picture with Bill Clinton when he was POTUS. This is fair enough of course, except that it was only about those gits playing too much tax (John Cook said, I believe, that they take away his hard earned money to give it to people who don't give a damn). Seriously, **** those guys.

Well there was this:

President Clinton:
Mark Chmura, Green Bay Packers
Tom Lehman and the 1993 Ryder Cup golf team (Lehman called Clinton a "draft-dodging baby killer.")

There are like 2 non-republicans on the PGA Tour, its deplorable central.

These people are absolute monsters. They should all be in jail and anybody who still supports them should have a gold T stamped on their forehead for life.

“On Friday, officials from the Trump administration said it would require too much effort to reunite the thousands of families it separated before implementing its “zero-tolerance” policy in April, according to a declaration filed as part of an ongoing lawsuit between the American Civil Liberties Union and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.”

Saying it’s “too much effort” so kids should be forever separated from their parents? These people are absolute scum of the earth. How can they seriously get away with this? **** every trump supporter with a 20’ barbed wire pole.

“The deputy director of the Office of Refugee Resettlement, Jallyn Sualog, said that 100 ORR analysts would have to work eight hours each day for between seven and 15 months to “even begin reconciling” data on separated families. “In my judgment, ORR does not have the requisite staff for such a project,” Sualog wrote in the declaration”

The House needs to pass a bill on Monday providing funds for 100 analysts for 2 years so they can find these kids.

Trump is back on the golf course though. So it's all good.
