You get why this makes people in this forum so upset with you, right? The average Maga republican probably does believe that the brown MS13 hordes are coming to rape their daughters and that’s why they support trump. But not you. No, you know, you know that he’s a racist nationalist, but you vote for him anyway for an extra 2k a year. It’s abominable. Like, I can forgive Inso, the dude thinks the earth is actually 6,000 years old, so he’s been fooled. But you know better.

Furthermore, the $2000ish tax cut (it wasn't $500), can be overshadowed easily by market gyrations caused by an Executive who makes rash decisions. I can imagine a situation where the annual tax cut can be overshadowed by a market drop due to another government shutdown. And even though I'm only in my 30s, it's quite easy to look back at my Fidelity retirement account and see the $30,000 or so drop during December (it's climbing nicely back up) and see how unstable leadership could cause even worse drops.
One could even imagine a parallel universe where another executive did not pass the tax cuts, but their guidance of the nation could allow for market conditions that do not gyrate as much.

You're reflections are ****ed when your tax cuts end up costing you (more likely your children) more in the long run ijs

Yes Dotard. No one thinks you are building the wall. In fact, we are calling your bluff. Or like Bill Mitchell says, you are holding a pair of 2s, bluffing all in on turn and folding the river for no reason whatsoever or whatever the **** he said.

It's not rarely made. I suppose it's possible that it's just one of those things you've deemed unimportant and prevented entry into your mind.

Here’s the thing I’ve noticed with my peers in the professional services industry who tend to vote GOP. They tend to be white, grew up in a upper middle class home, and were sheltered all their life from seeing how tough life can be for some people. They truly believe EVERYONE can be successful and if you faltered it’s because you didn’t go hard enough and it is YOUR fault.
When you have everything you need/want in life what else can you desire? More money of course. They don’t have to worry about access to abortion. They don’t have to worry about being profiled and shot by the police. They don’t have to worry about being denied the right to vote. They don’t have to worry about investment in mass transit so they can get to work. None of this matters to them. These are vanity issues that they’ll never have to deal with.
As long as nothing explicity inconveniences them, such as waiting a super long time in line to get through security during a government shutdown, then money is all that matters to them. They are so blind to the struggles and tribulations of the less fortunate that until they personally get ****ed then they will never change their ways.

Since you're going to do some reflection, I thought I'd give you some relevant numbers. Based on your claim of a $2,000 tax cut, you saved about 66 cents per child who was detained and separated from their parents at the border. That's based on the lowest estimated number of family separations on Wikipedia, by the way.
You also expressed displeasure with the GOP's blatant lies on voter fraud. According to the Washington Post, Trump lied 8,158 times in his first two years. That means you saved less than a quarter per lie.
These numbers should make you feel awful about your vote, or about even thinking about voting for Trump again. You're way smarter than the average Trump supporter and way more aware of the truth. You're not brainwashed, you (admittedly) just make selfish voting decisions.
Every single time you walk into a voting booth for the rest of your life, you should think about those kids separated from their parents. Some of them died, for God's sake. Think about that every single time you vote.
Enjoy your tax cut, awval.

This is a great post. They worked hard and things worked out, so they don't know that there are people who work hard and struggle. Getting a driver's license is almost as simple as brushing their teeth, so they think it's that way for everyone.
They don't understand that their privilege is this things being easy for them. They think privilege is being born with a silver spoon in your mouth.
Given how easy they think a lot of this is for everyone, they think people struggling are insanely stupid or lazy. Since minorities tend to lack privilege, they come to form the opinion that minorities are lazy or stupid, and that's where it really starts to snowball.
Unfortunately they themselves will almost certainly never understand any of this.

re: The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: State of Emergency
Trump Thought Firing Flynn Would End ‘Russia Thing,’ Chris Christie Writes in BookOn Feb. 14, 2017, Mr. Christie and his wife, Mary Pat, had lunch scheduled with the president. It happened to be the day after Mr. Flynn — whom Mr. Christie did not back for the national security adviser role — was dismissed for lying to the vice president about his contacts with the Russian ambassador during the transition. Mr. Kushner decided to attend.
As Mr. Kushner tucked into his “typical salad,” Mr. Christie wrote, the president said to him, “This Russia thing is all over now, because I fired Flynn.” Mr. Christie said that he started laughing, and the president asked why.
“‘Sir,’ I said, ‘this Russia thing is far from over,’” Mr. Christie wrote. Mr. Trump responded: “What do you mean? Flynn met with the Russians. That was the problem. I fired Flynn. It’s over.” Mr. Kushner added, “That’s right, firing Flynn ends the whole Russia thing.”
Mr. Christie, who wrote that it all sounded “naïve,” recalled Mr. Kushner telling him that he was “crazy” when he said they would most likely still be discussing the Russia issue in February 2018.

Perhaps a little analogy using bridges would have helped Christie get his ****ing point across to these morons.

The quick phrase for this is “He was born on 3rd base but lives his life thinking he hit a triple”. DJ and spawn all qualify.
This is credited to Barry Switzer of all people. Figured it was older than the ‘80s.
