It's just not even a reasonable thought.

I could imagine some may get "scammed" into registering to vote. You know, sign this. But how would this conversation go in a family home?

"Yeah, I'm going to vote against Donald Trump. He's anti-Mexican".
"You know we are not legal in this country. It's illegal to vote. It's not worth it. There are police at the voting areas."
"No, I prefer to risk a felony arrest and get us all kicked out of Texas or be sent to jail to make this protest vote."

??????
Imagine knowing this claim was laughable on its face, and watching a candidate claim it over and over, then voting for him. What would you say of someone who did that? What would you think of their motivations and/or logic?

awval, if the election were tomorrow, would you vote for Trump again? Would it matter who the opponent was?

Everyone will pile on because of your history and voting record, but if you mean this sincerely I respect that. If you legitimately see the errors in your previous thoughts and decisions, now would be a great time to become vocally against this abomination of a presidency. We won't forget how afwval you were in the past, but if you want to help make Trump a one term president I definitely will have a bit more respect for you.

I agree with this, but as recently as a week ago he was on that "when I look around me everything is great" grind:

I'm sure housing is expensive on the coasts, it isn't expensive here.

I see new restaurants opening, new roads being built, and this is in Ohio.
I'll be happy to congratulate awval when he starts incorporating things other than "will I have more or less money" into his political beliefs, but we're two years into The Presidency of Donald J. Trump atm and he's shown little sign of doing so. If this time is the time he turns a corner, great!

Totally fair. To be clear, based on the posts you've quoted and it being awval, I don't suspect he actually will be doing any "deep reflection". I'd be happy to be wrong though.

Who's willing to wager that awval has "turmed the corner", and will vote against commander caveman in 2020?

The deep reflection of why I seem to make taxes/money the primary motivating voting factor.

Furthermore, the $2000ish tax cut (it wasn't $500), can be overshadowed easily by market gyrations caused by an Executive who makes rash decisions. I can imagine a situation where the annual tax cut can be overshadowed by a market drop due to another government shutdown. And even though I'm only in my 30s, it's quite easy to look back at my Fidelity retirement account and see the $30,000 or so drop during December (it's climbing nicely back up) and see how unstable leadership could cause even worse drops.

One could even imagine a parallel universe where another executive did not pass the tax cuts, but their guidance of the nation could allow for market conditions that do not gyrate as much.

Your family's share of the debt increased by more than your tax cut.

No mention of him being a vile, racist criminal scumbag POS, of course.

True, in fact all you need to do is look at Obama's term, except he cut taxes several times, so I guess just imagine if he hadn't. Most Republicans already do so it can't be that hard.

How do illegal aliens cost the economy money? More people = more jobs = more taxes paid = more economic spending = more prosperity for everyone.

I know that he cut taxes. That's what earned him my 2012 re-election vote.

The two years of the 2% payroll holiday tax cut were yyyuugggeeee. It was a $2000 annual tax cut. Very appreciated.

They don't. As a matter of fact, it's their taxes that are keeping Social Security and Medicare afloat since they pay into them but cannot benefit from them later in life.

I mean, dude, there's more to life than taxes.

The way conservatives think about taxes baffles me. You want less crime right? So you need to invest in the low income class. And that involves taxes. It just does. Sorry that means a cut of $10 a paycheck, but thems the breaks.

Also, it's not about what's best for you. It's about what's best for society.

Unfortunately a very large swath of the population thinks that's very debatable, or just outright false.

Oh yea, I have no doubt. And what's best for them is to invest in low income so that you know, you don't get robbed by someone that needs cash to buy food or whatever since he can't find a job.
