Since there is no reason to think the support for the shutdown is a cubic equation, postulating it doesn't make someone smart. It was just a joke. (with a tiny germ of truth in it) And while I sometimes put up a thought to highlight my thinking processes rather than to offer a real world solution, it is because of possible multi millionaire lurkers who might think of a scheme that can turn those processes into a few more millions more (up to 20). Thus the "us" in your post is a little inaccurate.

But Trump realized that this opposite force was proportional to the CUBE of the number of days as workers started to attend food banks.
So from day one Trump knew that the shutdown's maximum effectiveness in making his was base happy was simply the solution to the equation 2x -(3x squared)/50 =0 . He decided to go a couple extra days just in case.

Pelosi handled it well, but let's keep it real though, this was a layup. Trump owned himself. Imo Pelosi benefits by her obvious comparison point in Chuck "Sackless" Schumer, a guy who seems to derive great pleasure from losing. She has him beat no question, but is she a more effective leader than Mitch McTurtle? I mean just in terms of wielding power to advance her party's agenda.

The Turtle doesn't deserve compliments on being a dictator slash the GOP on being sheep. And if the dems had similar levels of discipline it would generally not have been good.

re: The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: State of Emergency
Lol GOP discipline.
McCain thumb down skinny appeal.
Bohner publicly telling members to get in line.
The wildly inconsistent messaging even before Trump got elected.
Hell, even McConnels refusal to bring bill to a vote is a sign of distrust in his GOP colleagues to hold the line in an actual vote.
And Trump only folded because GOP senators folded first. Trump knows it’s to acquiesce here than to get forcibly rendered irrelevant.

Hilarious the way the shutdown temporarily ends on the same day Roger Stone is indicted.

I'm not sure there's as much of an inconsistency as you suggest. The context matters. Pelosi is doing a great job right now because she's right in her area of strength, which is navigating the procedural stuff in congress and applying pressure to the right people, etc. That's super valuable, and I don't think anyone was criticizing her for not being good enough at playing the political insider game. It's a whole separate thing to consider whether or not you want her as the face of the party from a retail politics perspective, which is where much of the criticism of her has been on the forum. People want a mobilizer to be the public face of the party at election time, and Pelosi is too much of an insider to fill that role.
All that to say - it's a different skill set to convince persuadable voters to show up to vote vs. applying the screws to congress critters. Let's applaud her for her yuge success giving Trump the first of what I hope will be many beatings, but let's not assume that means that she should be at the front of the party leading it into major elections.

He's going a bit crazy in the Elezra book thread too.
I've suggested somebody check the carbon monoxide detectors in his home.

Man, these caravan people really get cranking every time Trump needs them. It’s almost like people are always trying to flee crime ridden areas to improve their children’s future.
