While it can be difficult to separate the cool building from the weird rituals and creepy chanting and make believe stuff, I'm on team cool building.

He said "perhaps" about the water planes. He said "Must" about acting quickly. These moron frenchies debated the planes instead of reading the important part. Should have acted quicker ffs and we'd still have those priceless treasures. Trump derangement syndrome at its worst.

Would you have put out the flames if they were hosting a Weezer concert inside? You've got to be pretty emotional about a particular subject to say the bolded.

Yeah I mean all those roman and greek buildings are a super cool look into great human achievements in architecture and they were mostly built around silly God worshipping, once we reach that Star Trek-type civilization where we collectively LOL at religion the Notre Dame Cathedral would have been a similar piece of work.

I think the colosseum would be a better analogy.

Millions of slaves (serfs) and poor peasants died earlier and poorer because of the taxes imposed for Notre dame.

Not to mention it was propaganda to help build a global empire/pedofile ring.

I'm still sad, and id also put a fire out in the colosseum.

To think it was built when it was built. It’s astounding.

Also it took not decades to build but centuries.

The main parallel in our lifetime is the church in Barcelona. LSF
Westminster Abbey is also a fair comparison...

Heartbroken over Notre Dame.

So um, does Bill Weld entering the 2020 election as a republican mean that there will be a primary?

Trump is giving the Medal of Freedom to his golf buddy.
Dude, Henry Kissinger and Dick Cheney have them. It's no different from the Nobel Peace Prize.

That and Tiger did a lot for golf and for race relations in what is normally an elitist game played mostly by white, upper-class racists.

Bernie making Bret Baier his little ***** on fox is pretty good stuff. This seems to have backfired on Fox.

Haha the French first responders tweeted in English.

Or for sure. I don’t watch Fox but I’m sure they will go for hours after this with experts saying that giving people who can’t afford health care will ruin USA #1
04-15-2019 , 10:34 PM
He’s back in the US now but here’s a story of a dude that was deported while trying to go to work, leaving his 12 year old daughter in the US. Oh and his wife was a veteran that was killed in Afghanistan in 2010. ****ing infuriating.

Thanks... I'd only even consider sending it to a few candidates, but I can't imagine some random unsolicited e-mail actually making its way to anyone important enough to get it into a candidates' speech. Perhaps I underestimate the ability of information to flow into a campaign, but I just don't see it...

Honestly, I've thought about it. I don't think it's a realistic possibility for the time being and I do love what I do. It's one of the few things I'd transition to from this, and still love, but I also have moved around a ton over the last few years and would be a carpet bagger almost anywhere I ran. I also think it might be tough to go from poker pro to running for office.

As for the broadcasting part, it's what I went to school for and I worked in sports broadcasting from '08 through '14 and then part-time after that. I'm a better public speaker than writer, in my opinion.

Trumpkins love that line. The facts involved don't matter at all, the actual liberal response from real people doesn't matter at all, the only thing that matters is that Trump owned the libs and his dumb fans cheered.

I haven't opened the CP thread on this but also I don't need to, I already know what's inside, all the Trump fans love it and none of them care one bit if mayors actually have their arms wide open.
Yup, basically. It's always projection, and they believe we're as full of **** on immigration as they are on like everything. So they think we hate/are scared of immigrants too, and are just lying because politics. Thus, even if we welcome immigrants in, they'll think we got owned... But in the end, who cares? We get to do the right thing and our cities get to prosper!

disagree with this take--all confederate monuments need to come down

also we're certainly not worse off for losing that piece of history, we can just deny it ever existed like the holocaust.

Obviously God wanted it to burn and people like you are against god here, shame.

Dude, he was referring to Notre Dame. You are aware that the argument was not in favor of confederate monuments, right?

During the French Revolution, a group of good guys tried to dechristianize France and replace the church with a "cult of reason":
In ceremonies devised and organised by Chaumette, churches across France were transformed into modern Temples of Reason. The largest ceremony of all was at the cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris. The Christian altar was dismantled and an altar to Liberty was installed and the inscription "To Philosophy" was carved in stone over the cathedral's doors. Festive girls in white Roman dress and tricolor sashes milled around a costumed Goddess of Reason who "impersonated Liberty". A flame burned on the altar which was symbolic of truth. To avoid statuary and idolatry, the Goddess figures were portrayed by living women, and in Paris the role was played by Momoro's own wife Sophie, who is said to have dressed "provocatively" and, according to Thomas Carlyle, "made one of the best Goddesses of Reason; though her teeth were a little defective."
It was a really good idea and worth trying again
That government ended quickly and badly, even by French Revolution standards. They were not ready for a society without religion, and we're not any closer today.
