The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: Harm to Ongoing Matter The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: Harm to Ongoing Matter

04-08-2019 , 10:01 AM
This argument about the cheating guy (which I didn't bother to read, and won't) is a nice illustration of the bind the left is in: the right transparently doesn't give a **** about Christian moralizing any more than the left does, but professes it endlessly as their sacred and divine charter. When their hypocrisy is pointed out by the left, it's shouted down as petty and, ironically, hypocritical.

(As an aside, it is technically petty in reality, since as previously mentioned nobody actually cares about this ****.)

Meanwhile, when someone on the left runs afoul of the left's big moral imperatives--me-too stuff currently, a variety of social justice issues generally--it's the stuff of identity crisis for the entire party, and smug jeering from the right about the hypocrisy of the left.

Just wanted to point out that the real issue here is one party is fundamentally arguing in bad faith. This **** is unwinnable.

I don't have any opinion over whether we should skewer the guy over cheating. But we should definitely skewer the whole right over fundamentally having a platform that's solely catnip to froth up the base's nationalistic and religious urges, and which they abandon constantly in myriad ways.

I genuinely applaud those that take the time to do volunteer work, and another thread idea that would be genuinely informative would be one where people detail such work, because that would give much more depth to the characters who generally post here. Perhaps you can start a thread where you list what you have done for instance, and then others can follow.

Not everyone wants to "read and contribute" in the heavy manner you suggest, so whenever you guys break things into nice organized areas - that helps with the less intense visitors and it might help attract some more (which some of you seem to suggest you would like after the sanitization process a while ago).
^^lol see? calling your posts useless and your whining pathetic is not just being objective, it is charitable

like, you still haven't made a single point yet. telling me to make a thread to floss my progresive bonafides, yea ok bro. you certainly aren't here to discuss politics. so **** off.

I spent 2 days volunteering last election, walked a total of like 30 miles, but nice attempt at a “slam dunk.”

What have you done other than making 500 word long whiny posts like these?
04-08-2019 , 10:22 AM
One big problem in this thread is posters are all or nothing on a lot of subjects and are really fast to bring extreme equivalences to weight in their argumentation.
Calling this the worst derail of all time is so shortsighted I feel bad I have to explain the difference but hey:
that cheating/fidelity/morality/marriage and who has the good/right values is omnipresent in america, be it from the gossip press angle or from the politicians campaigning points (look my opponent is unfaithfull trash,etc...).
It's literally everywhere all the time, the stuff that can break careers and lives.
And yet you guys are saying this is a worst derail than which airport is the best, how bad is a well done steak etc...
Now I would say that this is specifically an american issue, that's my personnal impression from life outside of america.
Then you could also say I'm out of touch cause america is the moral compass of the world.
Believe it or not this american compass is not really popular elsewhere.

Then when you create the thread listing all of your charity work, you are welcome to put that on top.

My point was not complex. You brought up all the work people here did that would require some research amid all the noise to find. With all due respect - I aint doing that research, so if those credentials are important (and I think it would help give the posters here more depth to their posted positions) then create an area where people talk about and compare their work in that regard, along with suggestions as to what others can do as well.

I think this would add some value to the forum, but if you think another person making fun of the trumpbot would then carry on with that. Its your guys house, you decorate it as you choose.

I am not really a slam dunk believer, but it seems to be a popular term here.

I applaud you for your work. I am in Canada, so I was not able to directly do the pound the pavement type of work that you did ( I did that for some recent municipal elections, and will for the upcoming federal election), but my brother and his wife in New Jersey did canvassing for Clinton for the general election in some of the roughest parts of Pennsylvania for several weeks, and their stories really opened my eyes to the situation of many in the United States.

I have no idea how many miles they walked, and I did not buy a plane ticket to go there to join them, so I am not making any personal claims of that. I donated $500 to the Clinton campaign, and I also donated $500 to some local candidates that my brother's family were supporting, because I very much respected the work they did, as I respect the work you have done, and that is why I am genuinely suggesting a thread where you and others outline the work you have done (along with suggestions for what others can do) would be very helpful. Yes, I have no doubt some of that information is mixed in with everything else here, but make it clean and separate is my suggestion. Think about it or dismiss it as you see fit.

LOL Euros. “Don’t cheat on your wife” isn’t like some uniquely American idea.

Literally nobody has ever stated such anywhere ever. I’ll never understand what these completely manufactured “gotcha posts” accomplish. Do they make you feel better or superior to some mythical opponent?

I don’t set out to feel superior, but when you take the line that cheating on your life partner is nbd, it’s hard not to.

Also not said by anyone itt ever.

You respond to my manufactured post question with a manufactured post. How meta of you.

You must feel really superior to your mythical opponent today.

thread needs more trump bot

As much as I would enjoy piling on to Clovis, I actually feel bad for the guy. Nobody has even bothered to create a hilarious Clovis's_Wife gimmick account. No respect for this dude.

I was making that post to make you feel stupid because as someone else mentioned, people here are extremely active. But yea I'll get right on thinking about it the next time I'm on the toilet spinning through 500 posts of crap, bad faith arguments. Having your approval on what constitutes proper thread matter and quality posting weighs heavily on my mind, I must admit. Especially with classics like these:

Man, if no one will speak for the ins0's/awvals/clovis' of the world (sorry to throw you in there clovis but that was some exceptionally bad posting) WHAT WILL WE DO? This thread isn't for SERIOUS topics, like an actually insane, senile old man in a death spiral of mental deterioration and mania with genocide on his mind and an itchy trigger finger, and an entire legion of followers who would just cream their sweatpants if he went full on deathcamps. I mean, ****. Where should we discuss something like that?
04-08-2019 , 11:17 AM
I vote we have a separate thread for smarmy canadians to chuckle about how interesting it is watching the United States literally fall apart at the seams, so those of us who actually have to live it can do so in peace.
04-08-2019 , 11:20 AM
Can the Americans post in the Canadian thread to chuckle about how we elected Rob Ford's brother as Premier of our biggest province? He's going to change the slogan on our license plates from Ontario, Yours to Discover, to his campaign slogan, Ontario, Open For Business.
04-08-2019 , 11:22 AM
GTFO Clovis is one of the best poster itt. We can give gregorio the heave though, dead weight imo.

What the hell is that dude yelling about? The car stopped in plenty of time. At first I thought that was a MAGA hat but I guess not.

It's in some UK place and I think predates MAGA hats.

Yes, a small number of people here are extremely active, and if the goal is to just have the forum be pretty much that then carry on business as usual, chasing away any potential interlopers as they appear.

Well, while you and others truly believe the end is here, that may not be exactly how everyone else regards the situation - whether they agree with the politics of Trump or not.

I still applaud you for the volunteer work you did. My brother and his wife needed a politics break after the election, as it hit them very, very hard. You may want to consider one for yourself. Kind of looks like you can use a break.

I do appreciate the time you took for the discussion, and I fully understand if you, or others, require posting some additional personal insults directed at me, as I know what happens when I or other visitors post here infrequently.

You know you could always look at posts around the one you're replying to before you assume they're directed at you

Your suggestion to increase activity in this forum is for the regulars to post less?
