You guys don't argue with nazis online do you.

It's been bubbling up for a while that Hitler was really a socialist.

He's quoting Hitler as an example of liberals who lie.

Yes. Your brain should hurt.

Everyone who rails about "leftists" says that because it's National Socialism. Partly in response I don't hesitate to take the much more accurate position that Stalin was right-wing.

Lenin was right wing too.

I've posted this a few times, hope some of y'all watch. It's pretty awesome.

that was fox takes on the report few hours before its release.

As a result, the Mueller report should be rejected out of hand by every American who cares at all about the concept of fundamental fairness that our founders intended to be a primary guiding principle for our government officials.

No matter what’s in the report, Mueller has already ensured that a large portion of the public will never have confidence in it.

It hasnt been touched on much in here, but how much of a stupid fumble was the juztice department going hard in the paint against Obamacare yesterday?

Trump gets a giant bow wrapped package of the Mueller drop, and kills the news cycle after 24 hours by going after the biggest reason he took a 40 seat drubbing in 2018? How ****ing stupid can you be?

Poor old Mia Farrow, still a deluded hippy chick after all these years.

you're just not on his level, he's still building up for the pivot which is coming any day now

Yep, mentioned this in the Obamacare thread I think... Like, personally, I suffer quite a bit for a couple years if the ACA is struck down, but from a pure strategic standpoint for the Democrats, it would be an electoral gift.

The question is whether that gift could ever give them enough seats in the Senate to do anything at this point. It's easy to say, "Oh they only need to gain three seats!" But no, it's not that simple. Doug Jones is losing so it's really four, and then you have to start counting how many votes you have in the Senate for Medicare for All...

Of course, if you win the White House, hold the House against a gerrymandered map and win four+ seats in the Senate running on Medicare for All, that may change the calculus a bit for Congressional Dems who are typically not for Medicare for All.

Never the less, I could make a very strong argument that while striking down the ACA is likely to give Democrats the White House in 2020, if they don't get enough seats in the Senate to actually move major legislation, it's also got a great deal of potential to lead to a one-term presidency and a Republican trifecta in 2024 when the public perception is that the Dems didn't do anything on healthcare and the Republicans run on IvankaCare in the next election. Of course IvankaCare will either be like Medicare for All Making Over $60K/year or a free checkup and lollipop for all white people, but they'll make it sound good in the election.

Of course it's a good idea. It's absurd to think otherwise.

If the Dems take the Senate they can eliminate the filibuster rule and pass whatever they like.

And they should too, if they pay attention to the maps and the demographics for the next 10-15 years after 2020. The GOP is in a death spiral.

totally open borders while having a welfare state probably isn't doable though.

Immigrants pay more in tax than they get in benefits

more immigrant = more tax = a stronger welfare state.

Well that's only because they don't get the benefits! If you have Medicare for all, including immigrants, food stamps for any poor person who needs it, including immigrants, etc etc etc, you'd yugely incentivize immigration of low skill labor. And if immigrants don't get such benefits you don't really have open borders OR a welfare state. You have an unlimited guest worker program where anyone is free come and work in the US and possibly starve in the process if things don't work out and they don't make a living wage.

Spectre of immigrant hordesing.

It's a dumb theoretical argument. No one with a brain would immediately and irreversibly adopt major changes and open borders and instant legal status doesn't necessarily mean instant citizenship.

But in the dumb theoretical discussion I'll take open borders and spread the welfare more thinly if necessary.

There's a pretty big gap between mass starvation and what most people consider a welfare state.
