If you are a republican Governor of a red state, then you get Trump’s approval to be helped by FEMA

If you are a brown territory or blue state then he bashes you and tries to take money from you

Totally normal

what is included in the a plus treatment
03-04-2019 , 10:58 AM
FEMA Director: Mr. President, we'll do our best, but what specifically do you mean?

POTUS: A Plus all the way, folks. In Puerto Rico - only 11 died, very impressive for a storm like that - I flew over to be with the people. We gave them great supplies, a lot of people needed supplies, paper towels, and I gave them beautiful, soft towels. They were so grateful.

FEMA Director: ... Okay sir, we'll get on it. A Plus.

Fox News has always been partisan. But has it become propaganda?

There should be a new version of the question mark for rhetorical questions.
I guess the payout for this would be, "at what point does a Democratic President freeze out Fox News from the press corps?"

I know Obama kicked Fox News out from the press corps, and other news organizations fought to keep them in, rightly I suppose.

But the news organizations opposed rags like Gateway Pundit, InfoWars, etc from the corps because they don't have any journalistic ethics at all.

But if you have an organization who's crushing actual blockbuster news stories towards a political actor and feeding him answers for supposed objective debates, then at what point do they cross the the divide between news org and rag in the press corp's mind to boot them out?

I guess you could say the WSJ is an example of a conservative news organization that still has strong journalistic integrity, but if I remember correctly, since they got bought out by Murdoc, they've been leaning on their news rooms to slant their stories as well

people might disagree but this is absolutely fine. poisoning your brain with hours and hours of awful news that makes you depressed and miserable every single day does not help anything, it only does harm to you. we need to people to retain their sanity and strength and hope. do whatever you need to do to hold onto them.

when it's time to vote, vote. campaign for a candidate if there's one that inspires you. volunteer at a homeless shelter. hell, volunteer anywhere that will do some good. give to a respectable charity where you can be reasonably sure your money will actually be used for its intended purpose. get involved in local politics. go to protests. if fascists show up in your town, go take a stand.

these are the things that actually count. consuming several hours of horrifying news every day, filling yourself with impotent rage under the guise of 'well you have to stay informed' isn't doing any of us any good, and more importantly, it isn't doing anything to effect any change in the current hellscape.

Shocked TBH that this many are
As much as 18-24yos liked Bernie in 2016, 13-17 yos liked him even more. My then HS Jr daughter's choir took a mock vote and it was literally unanimous like 50 kids for Bernie. I started looking into Bernie because my then 7th grader was into him.

Serenity prayer is solid, but the whole thing, not just the accept what you can't change part.

Trumpism is a cult that taps into people's base instincts, their fears, their desire for power, the desire to dominate. And how do you snap people out of it? Is it going to take a major shock to the system, like a damaging war or economic crisis?
It's so frustrating that this tactic has also let Trump frame the conversation in completely false terms. A reader could easily infer from the passage that the wall is a $5bn project. That's a fantasy.

Republicans have been trying to downplay the costs of the wall, suggesting it might be only $10-20bn. Most objective government sources put the costs at $20-30 billion, with potentially massive escalation.

In other words, the Orwellian **** is working. I'll bet even among informed left wingers, $5bn would be a popular answer for "how much is the wall supposed to cost?"

Just throw your hands into the air and scream, "SERENITY NOW!" over and over until the feeling of rage subsides

That's the kind of **** that is actually impeachable but most Americans won't care about because they assume that's just how things are done
03-04-2019 , 12:07 PM
60 million people think that's totally fine.

Obviously not ok but that story always confuses me because I cannot see how a massive telecomm merger could possibly be even remotely good for consumers. But it’s trump trying to block it so my mind immediately assumes I must be wrong somehow.

Media mergers suck, but Trump was only doing it to punish them and help his friends and donors.

He and Netanyahu should be tried together.
