People use stories like that to delegitimize real ones and it becomes a problem; see: every rape ever because one or two girls made up a story about being raped.

I don't know what he thought the upside was here. Sometimes you can get inside someone's mind but this makes no sense.

If it happened as reported he's risking a high paying job on a top TV show and potentially losing his entire career for....?

Yup unfortunately this.

It shouldn't be made a big deal over. Idgaf what people say on 2p2. That doesn't matter. But no elected officials or pundits should be writing editorials about how bad this dude is and how it delegitimizes the legitimate. Normally I'd assume that the difference between posting on 2p2 and writing editorials for the NYT is obvious, but some people around here can't tell.

Can't tell if sarcastic, but it's not inherently a big story. It's a tabloid piece. There's no reason to make a big deal about it and the derposphere will not congratulate anyone on their honesty and reconsider whether or not the MAGAs are all sweet, lovable people.

Think he meant what Pence was met with. But that would work well on hate crime deniers too. Stats work better.
02-17-2019 , 05:01 PM
sorry i meant the people at the mike pence speeches giving zero response to his bs
02-17-2019 , 05:03 PM
oops. That was golden.

Pence strikes me as a man who hasn't actually thought about anything his entire life. Everything he does or believes in comes from the bible, his political party or what is popular in his socio-ethnic group.

Harry Truman tried to head off an imminent strike by the steel industry by calling a national emergency. Under that emergency, the government could nationalize the steel industry and force them back to work. Truman claimed that it was necessary for them to work as national defense would be weakened without steel being produced. This attempt at seizing private steel companies was declared unconstitutional in a 6-3 vote.

The rules for national emergency might be vague but there is precedent for stopping them if they are being exploited in order to perform unconstitutional actions.

The silence was good but i liked the mocking laughter trump got better.

He was getting written off the show so no. People are saying this was done to boost his profile. He’s an idiot.

the UN laughingstock incident was great too, i still think fondly on it. but trump's a narcissist who convinced himself that they were laughing with him. stone silence while he's standing there waiting for an applause break is downright coldblooded. there is no greater feeling of doom for a public speaker than stone cold silence when you expect a reaction.

Those people didnt need a false accusation to delegitimize a real assault. Will they use it as an example? Of course. But they never cared about actual victims in the first place.
02-17-2019 , 05:27 PM
You could tell in the moment he knew it was at him. And with all the stupid things trump has said in his life im sure he is used to dead silence as a response. Either ones good though. There should be much more of that.

Yeah this very hard. Munchausen syndrome exists but people don’t question when someone claims their kid is sick. The intent to delegitimize victims by oppressors is not based in reality.

That tweet is absolutely nuts...
