So I think we can trade 1 wall for all of that stuff. Trump really does have the art of the deal.
Lol one can wish, but realistically no single dem will ever 'abuse' this power. Instead they will say some stuff to heal the country, bla bla bla.

The dems suck so hard by trying to play nice instead of trying to fix the mess the repubs have been making for the last 40+ years.

...the other possibility is that the courts will approve the emergency, but on some bull**** narrow reasoning that doesn't set a precedent. Like with what the SCOTUS did in the 2000 election. I forget specifically how they did it but it was basically worded like "these specific circumstances only apply to this one case and you can't use it as a precedent for future cases."

GOP elite types, which includes Roberts and Alito, don’t care about the wall at all.

They care about money, money, abortion (for the rubes), and money.

And white supremacy. They definitely don't want to see a brown nation where everyone has an equal vote.

My dad is a trumpkin. He was talking to another trumpkin today about how bad and rambling Trump was at the presser. I haven't seen any of it yet, but maybe we just need to play that thing 24/7 to break some of the spell.

Even if dems try it, the Supreme Court wont allow it.

Lol if you think this SC let’s this president have his emergency, it will let a democratic president do the same thing for a green new deal.

Dems will obv expand the court to give themselves a majority first

I only watched a bit of the rambling speech but the highlight was Trump saying that we give drug dealers fines and don't send them to jail and then something about giving them the death penalty.

Watching more now...

"More people are trying to come here (illegally) right now than ever before"

Expand court via national emergency then have the new court vote on the constitutionality of it.

The way he's going or maybe even if Jr gets it, I thought it was stupid but there is a chance he declares the next election void & calls the Dems a criminal organisation.

And then watch as the new court rejects the emergencies citing centrist sensibility and a need to reach across the bench.

Honestly, at this point I think I'd be more surprised by Trump accepting the result of an election in which he loses the presidency than by him trying to abuse his power to stay in office.

And on top of all the other reasons he'll have a decent shot at criminal convictions in NY State (Pence can't save him) if he loses.

You guys really gotta watch that speech from today if you havent. It’s truly incredible, even for him. Completely and totally incoherent, like something was actually wrong with him or he was high.

That might work for a few minutes, but only until they pop in their AOL disc and start scrolling through their email stories about Hillary buying Uranium emails from the Benghazi M-13s.

Then they just go put on their MAGA hats again.

I happened to be driving. I wouldnt recommend just sitting down and wasting an hour. it was crazy ofc. but some of his press conferences were just as bad.

parroting the chinese accent was great tho.

I’m kinda surprised that the President subverting the rule of law and officially transitioning the US into a banana republic hasn’t gotten more attention. I kind of respect how many places seem to be mostly ignoring the deranged rantings of a madman. Heck, CNN has Matt Kuchar paying his caddie 50k above the fake emergency headline.
02-16-2019 , 09:48 AM
well, its been over 4 yrs of his ranting if you include the primaries. now its just normal. no one is surprised so no reason to report it.

I don't think this is LOL at all. I very easily could see John Roberts voting with Breyer, Sotomayor, RBG, and Kagan for exactly this reason.

The Supreme Court would never endorse suspending elections as some in this thread are suggesting. And it's hard to see how a S. Ct. opinion could be written in a way that would keep the genie in the bottle.

This is alarming for all the obvious reasons, but it's far from clear that this gambit will work for Trump. There is a reason why he risked (and received) a kicking during the shutdown rather than declare a national emergency right out of the gate.
