Rump could announce today he’s impregnated a porn star and that he is paying for an abortion and his approval from pro-lifers wouldn’t drop 1 point because he’s saying he wants to get rid of it, is appointing people who want to get rid of it, and wouldn’t be doing it if it weren’t legal to do so

God bless

Yup. Just before the election it was all over evangelical talk radio that Trump was the Greater Samson, the strong guy in the Bible with long hair who boinked Delilah and killed a bunch of Philistines as he died. I didn't even listen to that station much, but I heard this "prophetic Samson" line a dozen times, first by guest pastors from megachurches, then by callers.

They don't just say a generic "we'll accept a crooked stick to accomplish our ends," they build up very specific storylines surrounding "actual" Biblical people, and turn them into prophecies. This is part of why there is literally nothing that will make white evangelicals turn on Trump. They've invoked scripture, and it goes without saying they couldn't be wrong about scripture.

People will use whatever mental gymnastics they need to resolve the cognitive dissonance over the fact that the president they love so much is not Christian or moral in any way, shape or form.

That he doesn’t use it is problematic but in general I would be fine with such things to be used by a president to relax.
I would put the furor that Fox and the GOP would be incensed with if Obama had done this at... 13.4 tan suits.

He'll just say he aborted them because they were already indoctrinated by MS-13, ISIS and Hillary's emails.

He was a Democrat when he paid for those abortions so he was aborting Democrat fetuses.

Yeah he's just a bludgeoning tool at this point. Some glorious day perhaps my side will wake up to how dirty of a fight this all is. Repubs don't just have the gloves off, they've replaced their hands with K'Chain Che'Malle-style arm swords and Dems are contemplating those mittens where you can use your fingertips. Mike Pence smokes a few dicks per day.

Dem surrogates should absolutely be attacking Trump for being an incestuous pedo

this is one of the biggest arguments i get into on the internet. because tv/movies have trained everyone to think that circumstantial evidence isn't good. and its a difficult thing to explain and to get through to juries in court sometimes.

we've been fed that circumstantial evidence is somewhat lesser, "we only have circumstantial evidence, we need more.."

almost all the good evidence is circumstantial: DNA, fingerprints, blood analysis, ballistics, gps/cellphone location data...

and it's going to a be a massive talking point about the corruption and collusion stuff, because even in dumb administrations a lot of back room deals aren't going to be eye-witnessed(direct evidence) by a bunch of people.

We had/have a couple of similar stories in the UK

HS2 trainline - London to Birmingham (330miles)
estimated costs currently at £56bn - £4.1bn of which has been spent before work has even begun
HS2 costs taxpayers £4.1bn before work even begins

&

Boris's Garden Bridge (couple of hundred meters)
abandoned after £53.5m has been spent (43m of which was public money)
Garden bridge charity spent £53.5m with no construction, TfL finds

Show me the money!

What does "takes too long" even mean? China is doing some projects literally on a century scale. It's really hurting the common good that politicians aren't interested in projects that can't be done in time for their reelection campaign.
