Sorry. I should have clarified. I was referring to the time immediately before his complete, and very convincing, divestment of all his business interests.

Seems like the last thing the GOP would want is kids actually studying the bible.

Please don't take the bait on his thinly veiled attempt to whip up what he considers the religious rubes in his base. Everyone knows he just plays Christian on television and only breaks out the bible whip when he's feeling his approval numbers slip.

It's not from lack of experience with the argument that I make the claim: https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/4...n-bill-768198/

That's a 4k post thread here where we present racists with the fact that immigrants pay payroll taxes multiple separate times.

DS is still laboring under the illusion that people will change their positions when confronted with facts

there's no convincing these people. the best we can do is convince future generations that deplorables are ****ing morons and encourage them to do better. Don't buy into the "dunking on racists is mean and just makes them more racisty" baloney, they're already maxxed on on being racisty. Use them as warnings to the kids. If you become a racist ****bag we're going to do this to YOU.

The only way I've seen them be convinced is if something affects them or somebody they love in their family directly. My mother was super-heavy against gay marriage and thought homosexuality was a sin and all that stuff. Then, my cousin came out as gay and all of a sudden she chilled and became cool with homosexuality. After all, her nephew is gay and is pretty awesome. Coming out didn't make him a bad person to her and so she realized how stupid her views on homosexuality were.

Anybody who thinks that they'll talk the deplorableness out of their family members at this point has to give up if they haven't by now. That ship has sailed. They might go silent about politics when ****'s bad for Trump but the moment something that they think is good happens, out comes the red hat and a new bumper sticker gets slapped on their coal-rolling Dodge pickup truck.

I'll float you a theory: If you only attended the first few lectures of an economic history course, the one topic you'd know is mercantilism.

These are hardly mutually exclusive.

The segregated lunch counter owners generally believed that they'd make more profits that way. They were both racists and selfish... all at the same time.

In fact, I'm finding it hard to imagine racism without selfishness. Could you give an example of this alleged non-selfish racism ?

The exception to the above is healthcare.

These ****ing morons literally go bankrupt from random illness and blame Obama, or something.

Trump would be the kind of person to absorb 1/1000th of something and then a) think he knows everything and b) never, ever contemplate changing his mind. However, I sincerely doubt he would have attending even a few lectures with the intend of learning something.

This is mostly true, but there are a small number of odd ducks out there who are committed to political extremism regardless of ideology. They may vacillate over a lifetime between far left and far right, but they are never in the center.

Racism is selfishness. You believe that one group of people is inherently superior, or even if you don't actually believe it you take advantage of that concept to benefit yourself and others in your group.

That's literally all white people. Even if they aren't intentionally doing it, just by existing in America, they are taking advantage of that concept.

It's about $10 billion/year, which is less than 1% of the annual payroll tax take (the undocumented labor force makes up something like 3% of the taxpaying workforce, by contrast). Not necessarily "keeping it afloat", but it's a positive factor nonetheless.

I think it's not necessarily a terrible thing for guest workers to be paying into entitlement programs from which they cannot draw, but this should be a piece of a great compromise on immigration. We should allow many workers to have legal status here in order to help pay for the entitlement programs that are underfunded (mainly medicare). But right now it's just a blip in the system that happens to exist, and I find it hard to argue in favor of maintaining any single thing that screws illegal immigrants over, considering they're among the most screwed-over groups in our society as it is.

If you're actually concerned about entitlement program funding, the higher birthrate of immigrants is of dramatically greater benefit to these programs than payroll taxes among current illegal immigrants. But that's the kind of thing that would only be relevant in a good-faith debate about the subject, which currently does not exist.

Maybe 10% of whites realize this too
01-28-2019 , 01:52 PM
I know I'm supposed to feel guilty about that.

But I guess white people in America will get their comeuppance as the demographics continue to shift towards Hispanic people.
