Meh. This fact isn't motivating to actual liberals because taking their payroll taxes for nothing isn't a good thing. It's injustice. And for conservatives, they don't actually care about the social security payments or the costs or whatever. That's just bull**** they make up to say instead of the fact that they don't want those people here because they aren't white. We've been through this for years with them. They absolutely don't care about the fact that most illegal immigrants pay payroll taxes and get nothing for them. The list of people who think that robbing the payroll taxes of undocumented immigrants is a convincing argument in favor of undocumented immigration is, like, apparently just you, because before tonight I thought it was no one.

The surprising claim is that undocumented workers are keeping social security and medicare afloat not that undocumented workers get jobbed by paying in without accruing benefit.

Trump ordered 15,000 new border and immigration officers — but got thousands of vacancies instead
In a sign of the difficulties, Customs and Border Protection allocated $60.7 million to Accenture Federal Services, a management consulting firm, as part of a $297-million contract to recruit, vet and hire 7,500 border officers over five years, but the company has produced only 33 new hires so far.

This is just another example of the basic disagreement I have with many of you who think for some reason that racism rather than selfishness is what drives many people.

Two thousand dollars ain't ****. I wouldn't even get out of bed for that. It's $5.50 per day.

LOL, Trump is even attacking Fox News now and the MAGA-tards on the_donald are all posting about how Fox News is fake and a bunch of cucks.

I like my coffee how I like my presidents: black and from Kenya.

Let's just say I won't be camping out a Chick-fil-A overnight to get the free meals for a year. I'll pay the five and a half bucks per diem and let the starving people have the free food. Imagine pitching a tent and claiming victory over some feed-grade meat pie.

I’m guessing he’s connected to this company somehow.

It’s racism. It really is.

Why do they all seem to continue to support him then after they've personally been negatively impacted? I'm talking about the farmers who got hosed, home owners who got hosed with the tax cuts, people losing government functions they depend on?

They've stood by his side almost to a man.

I don't think it is possible to entirely separate racism and selfishness. Is the old white guy who deeply resents the erosion of structural advantages for white people racist or selfish? I would say he is both. Maybe you would say his racism is mainly motivated by greed. That might or might not be true.
01-28-2019 , 08:27 AM
Why not both? They support Trump against their economic self-interest and instead act out of racial self-interest, prioritizing the benefits conferred by white supremacy over those of increased income and job security.

Many of them didn't realize they were voting against their economic self-interest (Trump promised them jobs!) at the time (and may still not acknowledge this), so it's not like they were choosing white supremacy over greater financial security.

Given an explicit choice between financial security or an anti-brown-immigration government committed to reversing some of the protections based on race or gender, I'm not sure how many vote to stay poor in favor of white supremacy and the patriarchy, but it's definitely not close to zero.
