Some mistakenly think that opening the government is not the concession trump plans to offer for a wall and nothing else.

All these theoretical trades are worse than sports homers wet dream trade machine projections.

Please stop. You are as guilty as clouding the message as anyone else. There are a ton of people not getting paychecks who can’t afford that. They have even more defendants. Focus on them right now and ending the shutdown cleanly.

Glad we're in agreement.

Yeah, in the 3 scaramuccis until this hearing we are going to have at least 200 new story lines and 400 new trump lies. It feels like a lifetime from now.

THE SHUTDOWN, IN A NUTSHELL

POTUS: I WANT A GIANT PLASTER-OF-PARIS COCK AND IF I DON'T GET ONE I'M SHUTTING DOWN THE GOVERNMENT.

DEMS: THERE ISN'T ANY EVIDENCE THAT A PLASTER-OF-PARIS COCK WILL DO ANYTHING AT ALL. PLUS PLASTER ***** ARE A FORTUNE AND THERE ARE OTHER ***** OUT THERE THAT MIGHT BETTER ACCOMPLISH YOUR GOAL, BUT AT A FRACTION OF THE COST, AND WITH FAR GREATER COCK EFFICIENCY. MOREOVER, MOST AMERICANS HAVE EXPRESSED A PREFERENCE AGAINST A GIANT PLASTER COCK. I GUESS THE PRESIDENT - WHO HAS ALREADY SAID HE'D PROUDLY TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR A GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN - WILL HAVE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR A GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN, BECAUSE HE REALLY SEEMS MARRIED TO THIS COCK THING.

GOP: WE SAW SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK. IF WE PASS A TEMPORARY SPENDING BILL AND GET IT THROUGH CONGRESS WITH A 2/3 MAJORITY, IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE PRESIDENT VETOES IT OR NOT - IT BECOMES LAW, ENDS THE SHUTDOWN, AND WE CAN CONTINUE DEBATING THE PLASTER-OF-PARIS COCK TO OUR HEART'S CONTENT, BUT AT LEAST 800K PEOPLE WON'T BE GETTING ****ED OUT OF A PAYCHECK IN THE MEANTIME. OF COURSE, IT MIGHT IRRITATE OUR DEAR LEADER THAT WE EXERCISED OUR WELL-SETTLED AUTHORITY UNDER ARTICLE 1, SECTION 7 OF THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION, AND I AM ASCARED TO DO THAT, FOR REASONS THAT ARE ENTIRELY UNKNOWN. ON THE OTHER HAND, WE WON'T LOOK LIKE MONSTERS AND MAYBE WE CAN STOP A TERRIBLE IDEA IN ITS TRACKS.

MAJORITY LEADER MCCONNELL: HOW CAN WE DO SUCH A TERRIBLE THING TO OUR PRESIDENT, EVEN THOUGH HE HAS DRY-****ED US IN THE ASS AT EVERY TURN THROUGH THE FIRST HALF OF HIS TERM AND MADE OUR JOBS IMPOSSIBLE. IF WE DON'T TAKE THIS DERANGED INCOMPETENT'S SIDE THEN WE LOOK LIKE FOOLS, AND THE DEMOCRATS WIN, DON'T YOU SEE?

It’s kind of interesting living through a time of such blatant propaganda.

Trump literally thinks calling it a barrier is his compromise. Like that's meeting dems halfway.

How about $5B in exchange for Merrick Garland taking RBG's seat?

Uh this stuff isn't hard. "I voted for some increased security fencing which at that time was necessary. Now it isn't."

I'd take $5B for the entire GOP establishment committing ritual seppuku.

Ask yourself this: if there is *one* thing that Trump has enough experience in to not be completely clueless (even if only because of those around him) it’s construction. A construction project requires plans, and blueprints, and cost analyses, and anything of this size would require a boatload. If they had anything like that they would be touting them left and right to grift supporters. But they haven’t, and they don’t. Trump doesn’t want a wall. But he has to fight for one because it was a campaign promise. If he wins, he “gets things done”—but this is just a start and he needs more support so he can finish what he started. If he loses, well then hopefully his tireless efforts can energize the base to vote for more “true” Republicans next time so they can pass it after he wins in 2020.

All the while Trump gives his cronies get the contracting jobs and he builds his grift capital by giving the deplorables a “victory”
If all of this is true then why not get it done when his party had full control of the government?

Because he doesn’t really want it done.

He is the guy yelling “hold me back” to his friends in a schoolyard so everyone thinks he’s about to fight

A couple of months ago i didnt think US Politics could get much worse, but this seems so ridiculous now. We should just remember that Trumps goes for the Wall because there is around 1/3 of Americans which really want the wall very badly. And while the ****show goes on and Trump argues on the intelectual level of a drunk 8 year old, the Democrats dont even manage to get as much votes out of it as they should.

Their message seems to be "You should vote for us, because we are not him." I thought they would employ communication experts. Also they seem to forgot, that they voted for Trump and will go on doing so, since he is not THEM.

And the politial debate is so poisonous i really dont see how the US as a country can put any political progress forward that the political opponent wouldnt rollback a few years later. The 2 Party System seems to kill the country.

The US as a country is kinda like that friend, who despite beeing in his 30´s now doesnt even remotly have his **** together yet.

Even though the GOP controlled all 3 branches through 2018, there was never support for a wall. They didn't have 50 votes in the senate for it. Trump wanted to put it in some must-pass bills previously but other Republicans convinced him not to do it. This time Trump decided to put his foot down in favor of the wall but most Republicans don't give two ****s about it. They're just supporting him because they don't want to be branded as traitors.
