He is a career grifter that has been listening to Fox News for 6 years straight, absorbing the propaganda they are feeding the deplorables. While he almost certainly believes it to be true as well, he also knows that the one thing he can’t compromise on to maintain his base is racism against brown people. He would be doing this even if he realized it was dumb because this is what his deplorable base wants.

We know this is true because he’s already turned down $25 billion in border security dollars in exchange for a path to citizenship for dreamers.

If I were a grifter I think I could effectively market to these people and make money hand over fist. I’m thinking about an “essential oil” that is harvested from the skin of the desert rattler that wards off all the nasty diseases the illegals are bringing over. It’s 100% as effective as the wall!*

*This statement has not been evaluated by the FDA because it’s been shut down but who cares they are non-essential anyways

well that and you have to build roads to get there, get the land by seizing it from texans many of whom carry guns and don't want the damn wall because well it's easy to say you want it when it's not literally on your property or have to look at it, steel slats require significant maintenence and they can be cut by saws, and other things that make it ridiculous that not a single one of them gives the slightest damn about.

It’s will be a black hole of tax dollars going right to super rich people.

Who will be bringing in even more illegals to do the actual work.

Not to mention the "abusive parents instilling the belief that everything is solved by force" part.

CNN saying trump might get some of his wall money from Puerto Rico disaster funds.

That would be the most quintessentially Trump thing of all time.

Surprised he hasn’t done this already given is perfectly evil.

Walls n wheels y’all Acosta just got trumped suck it. MAGA!
01-10-2019 , 09:14 PM
i bet jim acosta's house has walls
01-10-2019 , 09:24 PM
Your betting on how much a wall drops illegal immigration.

You take over or under 2%?
01-10-2019 , 09:24 PM
Acosta tweet is horrible optics, even before the deplorable response.

Trump keeps talking about how he is making great progress on building the wall. We all know that is BS. Well, Jim just tweets out video evidence of Trump's steel slat barrier actually existing, thereby lending credence to Trump's lies. I'd rather see sped-up drone flyover footage showing that no, there is no wall, just a prototype covering .05% of the border, or whatever it is. This was just a favor.
01-10-2019 , 09:28 PM
Acosta does the typical dem move and stomps on his own dick.

That tweet is the top headline over at the national state propaganda network's website.
01-10-2019 , 09:29 PM
The White House has walls but that didn't stop at least one drug addled criminal rapist from getting in.

Seems like it would depend on how complete the wall is:

Quote:
...we find that the border wall expansion caused a decline in migration flows: a 10% increase in the total travel time necessary to avoid the border wall resulted in a 1.4% reduction in bilateral migration flows. This result is robust to accounting for the response of border patrol enforcement, controlling for different types of border walls, and instrumenting the location of the wall expansion using geographic predictors of where the wall was built.
(more here).

I don't think the best argument is that a wall would be completely ineffective. I think the argument is that it would probably be somewhat effective in reducing illegal immigration but at a very steep cost and with the consequence of being generally bad for the economy, beyond just being immoral.
