It’s not like we are debating which movie is best. It’s mathematical fact that there is no crisis. Immigration is way down and immigrants are less criminal than native born citizens.

There is no crisis. Period. It does not exist. Even if 99.9999% of Americans thought it did it would still not exist. It’s not based on feelings. It’s based on statistics.

This entire thing is pure distilled racism and xenophobia. Nothing more.

Can you not see the connection between these two things? Help immigrants come to America to work and give them a path to stay and work as long as they are not violent criminals. Give them expedient due process for asylum. Many (most?) become illegal by going around the system (overstay) that is actively trying to remove immigrants or worse. Seems like we can control "bad" immigrants by aiding the "good" ones.
If I can just show up at ports of entry and then become a citizen or at least allowed entry to live/work I'm going to do that. If my kids might be taken and abused, my legal status might be in limbo for years...why play by the rules? People will and should do what it takes to have opportunity and dignity.

I'm not forgetting anything, the goal is to win elections, and insisting on OPEN BORDERS like this thread does, isn't helpful to that goal.

My wife teaches at a federal prison and said the guards, who are very Trumpy and are not getting paid, were murmuring anti-Trump sentiments today. They talked about MSNBC and protesting.

Has to be good news. If he's losing those guys, it's hard to see how the shutdown comes out well for him.

Since trump is abducting children at the border, and unable to reunite them with their parents after a court order, I would also agree that there is a problem and a humanitarian crisis at the border
