The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: Harm to Ongoing Matter The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: Harm to Ongoing Matter

you gotta believe trump is happy that the emoluments case against him is paused during the shutdown. because he's obviously guilty. everybody knows the saudis spent a ton of money at the trump hotel, it was totally out in the open.

permanent shutdown and blame democrats sounds like his best play

i can see the presidential debate now

trump: democrats have shut down my government for a year and a half for 5 measly billion. i could pay it myself but i don't negotiate with terrorists. i stand by our troops!

chiefplanet: that's right!

any dem: mr president, sir, no, you did that.

us: that's right!

50% of the country: i honestly can't make heads or tails of this

i think the reason is because he hasn't found a really good one yet. it'll probably be something like "nosebleed nancy who snorts adderall in bed at 5:45am every morning"

While 380,000 federal employees have been out of work on furlough for 12 days and 420,000 more are working without pay due to the government shutdown, the General Services Administration has reportedly found the funding to reopen the Old Post Office tower in Washington, D.C., which, wait for it, shares a building with President Donald Trump's hotel.

trump just has to call her Hillary Pelosi and he probly wins 2020 and the superbowl
01-03-2019 , 10:54 PM
Is it really any different than the W administration?

I really don’t think so.

The democrats need to start offering stuff for the wall. Then they can say 'well we tried to trade for the wall but Trump/republicans said no'. Start with removing the states opt-out bull**** for Obamacare + citizenship for dreamers + raise taxes on the wealthy + universal preschool for the whole wall funding.

It'd be really amazing/hilarious to get a scenario where Trump says yes and the senate says no.

If the Dems are smart (LOL) they should figure out a scenario where that does happen and forces the GOP to impeach Trump.

I hope you're wrong about that. And why is it that local government can't seem to allow for any type of construction without feasibility studies and environmental impact studies etc. Why aren't we hearing about any of that stuff as it relates to a wall stretching all the way along the Mexican border?

They don't seem to have a realistic prototype. Trump calls it a wall one day, then a barrier or steel slats. He says its already half-built and so forth. WTF? To ask for five billion dollars which is obviously just an arbitrary figure is absurd and the Democrats shouldn't cave on it. They should insist on a boatload of studies and maybe agree to spend a few million on that. Nothing more.

I'm having a hard time envisioning how the shutdown ends. Democrats aren't going to cave here. They are learning. And Trump knows his base dgaf about the government being open so... not sure how this gets resolved any time soon.
01-03-2019 , 11:40 PM
Trump knows his base doesn't care and loves chaos. He wants to drag democrats into the mud.

Democrat play as I mentioned above is to

1. Keep saying that we can negotiate with the government open. Stop taking hostages. Stop lacking empathy for workers trying to pay bills. Stop acting like a spoiled child. Point out that the senate voted for the bill last year.

2. At the same time, make Trump offers for the wall that the GOP senate would hate. Stuff that is popular with Americans. (as mentioned above). This shows that Trump/GOP is disingenuous.

Goal should be to highlight GOP disfunction as whole, not just Trump.

Stumbled on a point on twitter so simple I’m amazed it hasn’t been asked

If Mexico is already paying for the wall through totally not NAFTA then why is the government shut down?
01-03-2019 , 11:44 PM
Well if it continues long enough, when rich guys don’t get their tax refunds they will be on trump to end it

I think the Senate will eventually cave in. 7 Republicans already broke rank today and voted in favor for the 2 bills introduced.

Because Pelosi and the Angry Democrats won't allow him to use the free Mexico $$$ you recouped to build the wall, ldo.

It'll end the same way as the whole North Korea thing, where he will randomly declare victory without anything having happened. He'll tweet pics of soldiers welding **** and say they're building the wall. Probably the Dems will give him some sort of concession but nothing like what he's asking for.

@rothschildmd posed an interesting question I've been thinking about today: whether these folks even need Q anymore.

@willsommer
At this point, I think they'll say Q was a lesson about the true nature of the world, even if Q himself wasn't a Trump operative, then they'll fixate on whatever conspiracy theory catches them next.

@appliances
Maybe Q was just the friends we made along the way

Well yeah agreed that's how Trump will spin it but I'm not sure what the impetus will be. He seems legitimately frightened by the prospect of Fox News criticizing him for not getting the wall. Nobody is pushing him to end the shutdown, and the public doesn't seem to care, so what moves this forward?

Maybe something like this will do it, though:

Or maybe Trump just gets tired of it or whatever, I dunno.

I feel like we're at the stage where things start getting dark (like Russia/Ukraine, Saudi, Syria, tax cuts, hindering Obamacare, fake cover investigations, withdrawing from two major treaties, 7500 lies, acting like a fool, etc. weren't already dark enough). The clown is now backed into a corner and surrounded largely by hacks. Fox is still f***ing the chicken, but less vigorously.

Y'all seem to think the federal govt doesn't do much of anything and that its employees and contractors can sustain themselves without pay indefinitely.
