The Senate will not 'force trump to veto a legitimate spending bill because it'll make republicans look bad'

Lol Klein is a moron. Romney will do nothing.

There's really no downside to the Republicans for running the government into a ditch. It will just make it easier for the plutocrats to seize control of everything when all our institutions are smoldering rubble.

Except for, you know, their voters suffering.

****ing rubes
01-02-2019 , 09:31 PM
Yeah. So like he said, no downside.

Kind of brilliant - guy makes and quickly sells 1,000 pairs of slippers which contain contradictory Trump tweets.

I dunno, I feel that it's hard to consider a project that end with you getting nailed to a wooden cross until you die of exposure as a huge success.

Compared to shooting yourself in the head while your compound and all your followers burn (original comparison was to Koresh), it is at least arguably relatively successful.

Edit: I guess it’s actually not totally clear who exactly shot Koresh, but regardless his end was not any better.

This is a nice de-rail going.

Romney has already done more than expected. Just having the temerity to write some obvious truths about the Trump ****show may have some impact.

We should welcome any GOP'er who even hints that Trump is an immoral liar and a total buffoon as president.

He is supporting the wall. He will do nothing.

How about we wait and see how he votes before we get too excited?

Romney won't do anything until he sees some advantage. He's adjusting his position to be able to make a quick jump cut.

Deplorables hate Romney at least as much as anyone here, so calling him out for the all talk faker he will almost certainly prove to be has no real downside. More seriously, any GOPer willing to take tangible actions should be welcomed, but various GOPers saying somewhat negative things about Trump is nothing new.

Yes but we should also be aware that such hints and comments mean nothing if they aren't backed up by action.

Too often, dolts like Romney and Graham want to speak out enough so they can be construed as not being on the wrong side of history when future generations look upon their legacies but not enough to actually enact change.

A defensive Trump calls a Cabinet meeting and uses it to boast, deflect and distract
Trump trashed his former secretary of defense, retired four-star Marine Gen. Jim Mattis, as a failure after once holding him out as a star of his administration.

“What’s he done for me?” Trump said.

He claimed to have “essentially” fired Mattis, who had surprised the White House by resigning in protest last month after the president’s abrupt decision to pull U.S. forces from Syria.

And Trump, who did not serve in the military and received draft deferments during the Vietnam War, suggested he would have made a good military leader himself.

“I think I would have been a good general, but who knows?” Trump said.

...

After saying last month that he would proudly take responsibility for the government shutdown over wall funding, he sought to blame Democrats for not sticking around over the holidays to negotiate. He said he stayed in Washington because the border security debate was “too important a subject to walk away from.”

...

He described the recent stock sell-off as a “glitch” and said markets would soar again on the strength of trade deals he plans this year.

...

“They say I am the most popular president in the history of the Republican Party,” Trump said.

...

“The reason Russia was in Afghanistan was because terrorists were going into Russia. They were right to be there,” he said, breaking with the stance taken by past U.S. administrations that the invasion was an illegitimate power play against a neighboring nation. “The problem is, it was a tough fight. And literally they went bankrupt; they went into being called Russia again, as opposed to the Soviet Union. You know, a lot of these places you’re reading about now are no longer part of Russia, because of Afghanistan.”

...

He claimed that if he wanted to, he could have any government job in Europe and be popular there.

...

He defended his controversial negotiations with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un by stating that if he had not reached out, there would have been a “big fat war in Asia.”
