Re: The Presidency of Donald J. Trump

On the Trump White House web page

Quote:
These, building on months of policy papers and public statements and leaks from the Trump campaign and transition, tell you what’s really going to happen now. As much as Trump promised a new, populist version of conservative politics on the campaign trail and again on Friday, he’s outlining plans that sound familiar: tax cuts for the wealthy, deregulation, anti-environmentalism, and defense spending hikes. In all, the plans do little to suggest that Trump will actually deliver on his plans to make life better for working-class Americans while very likely benefiting the wealthy and big industry.

...

His website makes clear that his plan for doing this is massive tax cuts for the wealthy and extensive deregulation. Infrastructure spending goes unmentioned. There is no reference to a public jobs program offering unemployed Americans a chance to build bridges and aqueducts and railways.
Cliffs: No solidarity for the working man. Tax cuts for the rich, deregulation for the poor. Bush 2.0 here we go.

The grand experiment has begun!

To my knowledge there now is not a single member of our upper government who has any inkling of how to do their job. Not the president, nor any of his cabinet picks. Strap in and enjoy the ride.

Thinking of moving to NYC. I want to be at ground zero if/when nuclear holocaust begins.

Not disagreeing, but I think people were pretty scared when Reagan took office too. Sometimes peace through strength and tough talk is a viable strategy. Not saying Trump will pull it off without Armageddon, but it's not the first time the people of earth has been scared of nuclear disaster.

From the article:
Quote:
Lee Munson, security researcher at Comparitech.com told SC that, apparently, “many of Trump's staff have reportedly been using the same password across a number of different accounts”.
I'm SHOCKED that a bunch of old tech illiterate people would do such a thing.

Canada Could snap annex the west coast today. Raiders could join the CFL as the Rough Raiders for maximum confusion. Come on, eh!

The best chances we have are Ivanka and Jared, Mattis, Kelly, Tillerson, Mnuchin.

The other side of the coin: Flynn, Bannon, Sessions, Pruitt, Price, DeVos.

Then you have people that are either dumb or insanely unqualified like Carson, Perry, etc.

I think how bad this gets really depends on whether Trump relies more on Mattis/Tillerson or Flynn on foreign matters, and on everything else whether Ivanka/Jared or Bannon have more influence. So far it seems Flynn and Bannon have had much more influence. Flynn seems particularly terrifying. There are already reports of Flynn and Mattis butting heads over Pentagon appointments and Mattis threatening to quit.

Was in a coffee shop just now that bizarrely had Fox News on with inauguration coverage and the guy was saying something like, Hillary called him a con man, Romney called him a con man, now you can call him Mr. President.

Zero actual denial of the con man claims, just unfettered glee that their side won (remember #NeverTrump? Haha they don't either) no matter how ****ty he is.

So far so good. Five hours in and still no WW3.

Only 35035 hours to go to run the clock out. Fingers crossed.

would definitely take the under on this.

His act about not wanting the power he's repeatedly been given seems legit sincere and not an act.

Dude's got a happy family and was perfectly happy being a nobody congressman with a calculator solving math problems.

His power has been forced on him, not seized. It was basically a "yea i'll be speaker, as long as I don't have to miss my kid's baseball game for it" and only because there was absolutely noone else.

Which all leads me to believe that he'd peace out of any mess before it affected him personally or his family. He's just a nerd. To get all worked up about things going wrong or losing power or any other crazyness, I think you have to be really into the politics and power of it to begin with. I really don't think he cares about it all that much.

Any network that would appoint Nigel Farage as a commentator (or whatever they call the role) can't expect much credibility.

Saying a politician doesn't care about power is like saying a hooker doesn't care about getting paid. Even a idealist would have to care about power or he would have no impact whatsoever.

True though.

But seriously, all politicians are con-artists to one degree or another. Trump just happened to be the most successful one this go round.

Hillary was just as much a con-artist in her own way.

Uh, no. Donald Trump is definitive proof that both sides are not the same.

Re: The Presidency of Donald J. Trump

Assuming there will not be a nuclear war, DeVos might actually be the one doing most of the long term damage.

Sounds like a lot of students will end up with a ****ty education.
