Training teachers to use weapons...

Fall of the Roman Empire II

Our solutions to problems in this country is ALWAYS to make things more complicated.

Oh ok, makes sense even though I disagree with some of his characterizations.

Also this has to be a simulation because in an episode Lisa becomes president and complains how the previous president, Trump, left the country with an insane amount of debt (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlvYiTJbhwU). So I guess Cruz thinks democrats are going to win the presidency with a woman after Trump is done.

Safe bet that the Simpsons are going to be clowning on this ****.

He clearly doesn't. It'll be nice if his crowing about being the party of Simpsons and simpletons blows up in his ugly face.

Cletus is the Simpson's Trumpkin.

You have to understand this is a guy who thought this was a good way to connect with the youth

I mean you can tell this guy didn't have any friends growing up who quoted Simpsons back and forth so he's been bursting to tell someone, anyone, about his love of the Simpsons so he just works it in when he can.

President Trump on Thursday warned about the influence of violence in movies while discussing school safety and mass shootings, suggesting it could be a contributing factor to recent mass shootings.

Trump made the comments during a meeting at the White House on school safety attended by lawmakers and top administration officials, where the president addressed a number of issues in addition to gun violence.

"We have to look at the internet, because a lot of bad things are happening to young kids and young minds, and their minds are being formed, and we have to do something about maybe what they're seeing and how they're seeing it. And also video games," Trump said, according to pool reports.

"I'm hearing more and more people say the level of violence on video games is really shaping young people's thoughts. And you go one further step and that's the movies. ... maybe they have to put a rating system for that," he added.

However, ratings systems already exist for both video games and films in the United States. The Motion Picture Association of America and Entertainment Software Rating Board both rate and classify content based on its suitability for specific audiences.
Guys maybe we should have a rating system for movies to tell people when they're violent? That should solve the problem.

Yup. Another attack encouraging anti-intellectualism by decrying academics and intellectuals as ivory tower liberals.

Only a matter of time before a brain drain occurs in America.

The median salary for public school teachers is less than $60,000. Having them both teach and be trained soldiers is ridiculous. There'd be an immediate strike and I wouldn't be surprised if a good lot of teachers resigned or retired early if they are required to carry weapons. At that point, they'll be replaced by sociopaths who get off on abusing children.

Even by old people standards, Trump is behind. Movies and video games causing mass shootings went out in the 90s.

Anyone remember that episode of The Simpsons where Homer proved himself to be a completely irresponsible gun owner, even getting himself kicked out of the NRA?
02-22-2018 , 05:05 PM
The gun in the crisper is a classic. "But Marge! I swear I never thought you'd find out!"

I prefer the one where Bart and Homer become carnies and get grifted out of their house, then have to figure out a way to grift it back. Really sums up what Ted Cruz was talking about.

There is a playground and yard that is visible from three streets at my daughter’s elementary school with a short chain link fence around it. How in the hell are they supposed to secure that?

There have been plenty of mass shootings on military bases. Presumably there are lots of people better armed and better trained there than we hope to achieve at schools.

If by some Jesus fueled miracle they secure schools to a point they can’t be targeted effectively, well...movies, malls, public transit, sporting events, the ****ing zoo parking lot....please shut these ****ing idiots up. Please?
I had this argument with a TRUMpaholic last night. I asked what shall we do when the crazies decide to just move the slaughter to the school bus drop off and kill 40 kids on a bus. You obviously know his responce.

School buses with turrets mounted on top sound pretty sweet.

Well, guess we have to allow suppressors now. It’s not really safe for student or faculty hearing once teachers start blasting guns in classrooms. OSHA and whatnot.

Yet Marge is always the one who in the end supports Homer despite all his faults. Like the women who voted for Trump.

+1 for Marge

But hardening proposals also exhibit a circular logic that runs deeply counter to the spirit of the Second Amendment. Again, that provision implies a duty to resist tyranny, in all the forms of military, surveillance, and governmental overreach that helped spark the revolution. Suggestions to create a police state in American schools, however, mirror other pro-authoritarian tendencies that run counter to this instinct. In the creation of the carceral state, in the expansion of drug laws, and in the extreme militarization of police in recent years, people have argued that placing more guns in the hands of authorities is the only way to keep people safe. But why would pro-Second Amendment enthusiasts be in favor of providing more firepower to the government?
He doesn't mention it but the answer to the question is that it turns out people don't mind giving the government lots of fire power so long as they utilize that firepower for certain kinds of people and against others.
