Right. We should believe them when they say they don't value democracy. Believe their words, believe their actions.

S'all good. That's just the way I post. Get news => run to thread.

Almost all the time, if it came from Twitter, post a tweet. Online? Link. TV? Description. YouTube/Russia? Video. And so on.

To add about Flynn: Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D) on the Senate Judiciary Committee said on camera today that based on all the evidence he has available and all of his experience (on who knows what?) over the years, everything points to Flynn being a cooperating witness with the FBI, and that he has been for quite some time.
06-19-2017 , 09:44 PM
If Flynn has turned on Trump, Trump will verify it by dumping on Flynn. But that hasn't happened yet.
06-19-2017 , 09:54 PM
The Senator could be putting it out there to rile up Trump, who knows? Or maybe it's true and Trump doesn't know it yet.

I just find it very hard to have sympathy for this guy. Empathy, sure. It sucks that happened. But it's NK. Best case scenario is nothing happens.
Are the charges against him credible? Is there a chance NK forced him to make a phony confession?

Obviously, don't go to NK but if you absolutely have to do not commit a crime when it's a lock you are under 24h surveillance.

Any chance the kid could have been an operative?

Who the hell decides to go to NK for funzies?
06-19-2017 , 11:36 PM
He allegedly went on Chinese marketed tour that claimed to provide just that.

I posted about his a few months ago, but there was a foreign policy/military podcast I used to listen to and some IC guy laid out three possible scenarios. With one being that Flynn has become essentially a triple agent for the US. He may have done some shady stuff with Russia/Turkey for the money but at the end of the day he is still a former Army general with like 30 years in. It's possible the FBI has flipped him and he is the "star" witness to everything.

The crime obviously doesn't fit the punishment. But if you are going to a country where possession of a bible is punishable by death, perhaps pick a different country to visit? I mean ****, the dude was in China for chrissakes. Spend a month there or whatever. It's not like he flew direct from NYC to Pyongyang.

I haven't followed the NK story at all, but if the guy wanted to see NK it's his risk. If he was going to party, then yeah that's stupid, but if not, it seems very interesting.

I honestly don't think that not wanting to continually argue with my elderly father-in-law is letting white people oppress from a position of privilege. If he wants to keep bringing it up, he doesn't get relationships with his grandkids, so that's up to him. But I'm done debating it.
I don't have any Trumpkin relatives of my own that I know of. I've married into a few but our interactions are limited.

My policy (which, I admit, hasn't really been put to the test) is that I'm never going to bring up the topic, but if brought up, I'm gonna finish it. I have no problem going indefinitely without it affecting me emotionally. Most people aren't able to do this and generally they'll be the ones to drop it.

For me arguing with a Trumpkin is similar to arguing with someone that believes the Earth is flat. It requires very little effort and doesn't really make me mad as much as it makes me incredulous that someone could be so stupid. Also, my goal is not to really persuade them (as that's impossible in most cases) as much as it is to let them know how terrible I think their arguments are. What they choose to do with that is up to them.

I don't have a problem with him going either. My issue is his family is all pissed off and blaming this on Obama. Like, WTF was Obama supposed to do? Put military lives at risk because some dumbass wanted to see people eating grass?

I have one relative who was a Trumpkin before Trump was in politics... He was part of the hardcore right wing that was racist/ignorant, even if he didn't admit/realize he was racist. You're describing one of my favorite strategies, and one of my favorite ways to try to bring it back to their political policy arguments versus mine was to just refuse to engage on any of the deplorable/stupid nonsense.

"Yeah, yeah, Hillary's e-mails, Bill's affair, Pelosi's you have to read it, none of that matters... That's all games to avoid discsusing what matters, and there are any number of them on either side. Instead of trading Hillary's e-mails for Pence's e-mails and Bill's affairs for the Alabama governor's and so on, I'm interested in talking about actual policy. You said you wanted to do X, it would actually cause problem Y because of reason Z. That's why we should do liberal suggestion A with minimal infringement on conservative idea B to regulate marketplace C without interfering too much with private business."

Usually their response would be something like, "Yeah but I just don't trust that Obama guy, he's a Kenyan blah blah blah," at which point I know that deep down they realize they don't have a clue what they're talking about when it comes to policy. They're just rooting for their team.

I have zero respect for someone who travels to North Korea as a tourist without there being mitigating circumstances. You're handing over foreign currency to the most evil regime in the planet. And for what? To show off to your hipster friends?

I've actually met someone who wanted to travel to NK and really thought he'd be improving US/NK relations and the lives of North Koreans by smiling at people in Pyongyang.

Interesting theory. Can't say I haven't had similar thoughts.

How long do you think Flynn has been a mole in Trumpworld? No way it could be from the very beginning of the campaign, right?

Haven't seen a Trump tweet yet about the terrorist attack yet in London on Sunday night

I don't understand how Trump and a handful of lawyers and WH officials (because not too many others are willing to work for this guy, and GOP TV personalities are steering clear since Friday) can just continue to brand and brand relentlessly without any information behind what they say, while opponents with all the truth and facts on their side can't brand ****. Why aren't Dems in Congress using LIAR CHEATER THIEF whenever Trump comes up? They need to beat it over everyone's head that we can't trust a single word they say about anything anymore and therefore can't operate the government with any level of confidence that what's going on is actually what's going on. That the whole administration is a farce for Trump's personal interests.

Don't these people even talk to each other? Damn Dems suck at messaging. And even knowing that, Trump actually has so many idiots convinced that there's some coordinated effort against him from 65% of the country. Geez.
