I was looking at Mosins on there earlier and round receivers are going for $130.. WTF is that. Classic has them for 89, or you can find them locally for under $100 all day just about anywhere.
I bought two guns through gun broker just a couple months ago and got them cheaper than I could locally, but I guess ymmv. I was actually surprised. There was a gun that sold locally for $430 (plus tax). Most of the items on gunbroker were for $400 or so. There was one item that didn't have a reserve on it, so I bid $350, because I didn't want to bother setting up a watch for the gun. I didn't expect it to win. Imagine my surprise when it won at like $340 or so. After $40 for shipping and FFL fee, I saved about $50 from buying in person.

Sickening, though to be fair, they have also banned listings for tobacco, alcohol and gambling/casino products, all age restricted stuff. I still hate it though. Never would have found slimstacticalguns.com without Google shopping.

I guess it's very dependent. There are plenty of local places are that are rip offs and others that are honest and fair. I would imagine it also depends on what you are buying too. If I'm going to buy online I'll look at Classic, Buds, J&G or Atlantic to get a price than compare it to GB.

Me like the discretionary target, I do that with memory cards and loteria cards

I wasn't talking about the target, but since you brought it up, you don't like the flowers?

Picking up a WASR 10/63 UF for $475. Never been shot. Still in OG box ( bought a year ago). Pretty decent price. Anyone have some experience with WASR 10s? I found some info on things to look for when picking up one of these and eveything checks out.

That seems about right for a WASR. NIB go for about $500, but usually come with extra mags and all that BS. I'm not a big fan of UFs, but WASRs are great guns that get a bad rep because Century is garbage. If you don't have canted sights/gasblock or mag well problems then you're good to go. It's an AK so it's going to be reliable. I know people who have beat on their WASRs and never had a problem. I wouldn't recommend that, but the problems people have generally aren't related to durability. Biggest thing is if you shoot corrosive ammo make sure you clean it immediately after. Nothing wrong with the surplus stuff, but it will eat your barrel if you aren't careful.

+1

WASRs (like all post ban AKs) are built on US receivers from kits the quality of the assembly and parts used varies wildly. The receiver they use is the primary culprit in problems since it was originally built for LOLsinglestack mags. They machine out the magwell to take a standard AK mag but don't do anything else. So issues to check for are the following in order of importance.

1: magwell; (mags wobbling around and causing missfeeds) it should lock up TIGHT on the mag and not allow for slop. If that seems ok then take the gun and press down hard on the deck while firing. A good AK will cycle perfectly even with your full body weight pressing down onto the mag and using it as a support.

2: canted sights; front or back sights or both can be mounted off center. on some rifles one or the other is off a little but if both are off by allot your screwed getting a good zero.

3: gas block canted or has a gap; not really important since a good AK will cycle even if you gut 1/2 inch or more out of the gas tube... but yeah it should be tight and straight.

anyway have fun with your new shooter, and be safe.

ETA: WTF kind of world do we live in where anything over $200 is a good price for a WASR? prices are sick these days.

My new shooter is on the way back to GA from its temporary home in NV where it sat unloved.

That is one sweet, mean-looking device.

Better stock up now.....if you think another 4 years of ******* obama will do anything but restrict gun laws and purchases....you are wrong. He gets elected again, and he will, we are in deep ****. They want as few guns as possible for when they have to break the news that we are broke, we cant afford to ever pay them, and well a whole bunch of benefits and entitlements have to be cut.....yeah then the rioting will begin and they know this. Stock up now, it is about the only right you still have. (Since you as an American citizen CAN be assassinated, you CAN be held and detained forever w/o trial for starters) Country sucks now. A heaping pile of ****.

I'm not all that excited to see what a second term of Obama would do for guns, but I think you're overreacting a bit. I would say stocking up as a speculative investment is a decent idea though.
07-05-2012 , 03:19 PM
It is booze.

I'm rather excited about unloading $400-$800 Kalashnikov's for $1200-$3000 around Christmas time.

I'm also stocking up on Paracord to sell as well.

If Obama gets reelected he will implement some sort of gun control for sure. book it.
07-05-2012 , 03:32 PM
If I had the money I'd be all over that. The unfortunate part of it is when prices restabilize they'll still be higher than they were originally. Seems like every 6months to a year I'm seeing things creep up $25, $50, $100 more than before. I guess that is the economy as a whole, but seems more prevalent with firearms.

Why paracord? I'm confused as to why there would be a shortage of that.
07-05-2012 , 03:34 PM
Hey how can you tell if an AK you're looking at is high quality or not?

He'll probably try, but succeeding is another thing. I don't see anything major sticking.
