eta: General please describe in detail the nature of your jams w/ the 10/22

And the pistol you want is a Smith and Wesson M&P... period. Unless maybe its a Glock. And as has been discussed ad nauseum ITT and others basically the M&P is a Glock that has been perfected. The trigger is not quite as nice but until you get some time with it you wont be able to tell and then you can replace the trigger.

M&P or a Glock will be cheap and reliable, and perfect for learning. the M&P is a little safer for a pistol noob.

ya exactly. m&p was made like 8 years ago, no pre ban mags for it.

USP 9mm looks like i might have success there. what do you guys think of the USP?

neblis, the 10/22 25rounders (ruger factory) - even when manually unloading, some of the rounds get stuck in the magazine. it's a common problem with them and ruger replaces for free, but i live in a <10 round state so they won't send to me, so it's kind of a pain in the ass for me to replace.

A USP is too big for me, but then again I actually carry.

Overall in a vacuum, H&K's are high qualify pistols.

They're just a bitch to carry.

i have a taurus millenium pro 9mm and it's damn reliable. i can count on probably half a hand the amount of times it's jammed/misfired over several thousand rounds.

You ever frozen it in a solid block of ice, used another gun to shoot it out of that block of ice, picked it up, tossed it into a 1200*F oven to melt the ice off, chunked it for several minutes into a bucket of ice water, tied it to the bumper of your truck and drag it down 4 miles of dirt road, pick it up and fire 5k rounds of +P ammo through it without a malfunction?

Has this been done with other quality 1911s?

I really was just screwing around with that post, but on a serious note, I think price point matters. I'm much more interested in how the Glock compares to other guns is the ~$500 range.

I'm not surprised if a $1300 gun outperforms a $500 gun. In fact I'm somewhat disappointed if it doesn't.

The USP is the Counter Terrorist's starting pistol, whereas the Terrorists start out with the glock. Contrary to your statement, the USP is a .45 ACP, and the T's glock is a 9mm. In addition to greater firepower, the USP also has a silencer that can be attached, therefor, the Counter Terrorists have a distinct advantage over Terrorists on pistol rounds.

.... I may have been playing a bit too much counter strike

Home defense and eventually CC imo.

I'm just wondering if Tauruses are pieces of **** since they're cheaper than other well known brands.

Forgot to mention this: it was annoying that I couldn't use the slide release on the Edge. I'm not sure if it's common on all 1911s or just the STI 2011s, but I couldn't reach it with my right thumb because of the safety. I had to release the slide with my left hand.

I remember Larry Vickers mentioning something like this on his show, about how he (a 1911 user) is used to racking the slide when it locks back, but the Glock guys all teach using the slide release. I'm coming from the other direction, used to shooting an XDm so I always use my right thumb on the slide release.

His reviews are funny, but not very informative. Most of the time it's just him shooting stuff, with some comments while he's reloading.

Nutnfancy's reviews are detailed. Too detailed actually. I really don't have the time to watch 50 minute gun reviews on youtube. But he thoroughly describes the guns and compares them to similar guns.

This is false. Every bit of training I've had I've always been told the "chest slap" method.
