what I would do if i were you is contact a federally licensed dealer in CA, FFLs tend to know what the federal laws are. In your email or phone conversation, tell them what guns you want to bring over.

I think no matter what you'll be better off driving them yourself (even if guns are legal in both states, you can't ship them afaik - actually, I've read something recently on this but I can't remember what it said).

But yeah, contact a CA FFL and find out. And then contact a second FFL to double check.

That's probably the most helpful and accurate post Taso has ever written.

Personally I would disassemble them all and transport them myself, the local legislation be damned. Just drive the speed limit and not do anything stupid while transporting them. If you wish to follow CA law, DO NOT DO THIS. If you don't give a **** about their restrictive and Nazi flavored gun laws then do this.

imo

Even though I am against the horrible nazi gun laws of the Peoples Republic of California, I would still recommend attempting to do things in the most legal manner possible, and here's why:

If the time ever came where you needed to use any of your firearms in self defense, you could end up in prison, even if you are justified in using them, because they were illegal firearms.

OTOH, if these are merely showpieces or safequeens (you didn't say what types of firearms these are), I would be inclined to agree with Montius.

And I would agree, one should probably be rationally inclined to do things in the most legal manner possible.

Personally, I don't always follow my own advice though.

I figure that if I go to prison on the account that I used such "illegal" firearms in self defense, I was on the right side of the moral law. Despite the fact that my butthole might never forgive me....

Just bought my first gun. It is a glock 19. Anyone have any tips on gaining better accuracy? All of my shots seem to be in line vertically but I am a little low every time.

Do any of the Kalifornians on this thread have a CCW permit?? Driving around Lake Tahoe makes for some challenging car-carry issues.

Also- and this is just informational- I've noticed that Class III NFA stuff is getting BATFE approved in about 7 weeks now-- down from 4 months last year.

It's hard to say without seeing how you are shooting. My guess is you are anticipating recoil too much and subconsciously trying to compensate for it by dropping your aim.

I'd practice wall drills and (if you can afford dummy rounds) ball and dummy drills.

The 3X5 card drill is also a good one to work on accuracy.

EDIT: The chart ScottySo posted is good.

The factory sights suck for one thing. IMO 3-dot sights such as Trijicon's pwn the factory ones.

BTW, welcome to the world of fantastic plastic!

This fell way off the first page, sad.

Anyways, I want a new fore-end for my 870(ideally both a pistol grip and LED flashlight), but halfassed googling does not reveal a lot of options. Any of youse guys have any suggestions about where to purchase such items? A lot of gun accessory sites on the internet seem shady and small time.

www.cheaperthandirt.com
www.gunbroker.com

Both these sites are on the up and up. also try these:

www.galls.com
www.deltaforce.com
www.cabelas.com

I've done business with all of these sites and they're all on the level.

Also, for things like that, try this one:

The sights I use on all my duty and personal weapons are these:

This is the Truglo Tritium Fiber Optic Sight, also known as the Truglo TFO sights. I love these sights.

I recently bought the surefire tactical fore-end light for mine. They have several models--the fancier ones come with a toggle switch for quick blinding bursts of light. Highly recommended.

DblB was right on the first one http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/Categ...spx?catid=1090 is the best I have found to deal with. I would recommend you get something that has been reviewed and look at how well the fore end fits and how much work it is going to be.

I'm considering getting a .22 rifle. I want something simple (easy to clean) and reliable. I don't need competition-level accuracy or any bells or whistles.

The Ruger 10/22 gets talked about a lot, so I figure that is a good place to start. Anything else I should check out?

Marlin makes a fun lever action gun chambered in .22 if I recall correctly.

Although the 10/22 with a 50 round magazine is probably the best possible gun for a zombie apocalypse.

The 10/22 is the "standard" .22 rifle so a lot of people will recommend it.

Marlin makes a really nice stainless steel .22 semiauto called the Papoose. The barrel unscrews and you can pack it down into the case that comes with it that's about the size of a viola case, only thinner. It's a great value for the money and one of my favorite guns.

But you say you want something simple, and for that I'd suggest a .22 repeating rifle. It doesn't get much simpler than cleaning a bolt-action gun.

Any semiauto you buy will have a bunch of little parts here and there that are a pain in the ass to clean.

.22 is also a really dirty ammo so you'll need to clean a .22 more often than your other guns. The cartridges spew dirt everywhere.

Is this type of thing legal without a federal NFA registration?

Gun rights activists want to push the limit on where they can carry concealed weapons in Georgia. House Bill 615 would allow them to carry guns anywhere except in a courtroom or prison.

Quote:
Republican Representative Tim Bearden is championing the bill. He told a house committee that people with carry permits must be able to take their guns into churches, bars, schools, colleges, and to the Atlanta's Hartsfield Jackson International airport, which is currently a gun-free zone.

“When you say it’s a gun free zone at the airport and you can’t bring one on, you didn’t just make the airport a gun free zone, you made that person defenseless," he says.
Sounds interesting. No idea how (un)likely this bill is to pass, but felt it was worth posting nonetheless.

Purely out of curiosity, which states have the most liberal gun laws?
