Yes it is. If guns are more likely to be used on someone you love as opposed to someone invading your home then it would make sense to make appropriate changes to safety policy. You can still own a gun, just be safe with it.

Is there a prize for tarding up the most threads?

Holy **** at the butthurt flowing from this thread.

"We deserve to have our own private thread to discuss guns." No you don't. This is a damn politics forum. It's not a gun forum. It's not a sportsman's forum. It's not an "other topics" forum. It's a politics forum. Jerking off about what awesome guns you own is not a political subject. We have threads where we're discussing the politics of guns. Those are on topic. This one, where you guys apparently don't want to talk about politics, is off topic. Off topic threads exist at the pleasure of the moderators.

Should I just ban everyone who's posted on this page (you've all earned it) and then lock this steaming turd?

lol I didn't read every post but CC trolling this thread is pretty LOL. There's nothing wrong with storing defense guns loaded. If you have children there are ways to make sure they do not get access to them. CC's claim that your children will find them and get their hands on them is pretty funny too.
01-12-2013 , 06:58 PM
How is that funny?

I want this stuff out of the LC thread so it only seems fair to give it it's own place to be.

maybe you and tom should discuss this, seems like the collective pleasure of the moderators is rather confused.

Not really.

brb, gonna go vegan-troll up the oot how to cook a good steak thread and tell them how their food choice is more likely to cause them all to die of heart attacks

i mean, it's cool, there's some frozen meat in my refrigerator, so it's no big deal.

This. Lolwookie. A fairly rare misstep from our furry friend

guys, this isn't OOT. it's a political debate forum.

he has a point.

if we started this thread in OOT they wouldn't allow political discussion, here, it's encouraged.

having said that, i dont see the big ****ing deal about having a thread that isn't about debating guns when there's so many that are about it.

seems like everything was fine itt, then cc comes in, tards up the place, gets asked to leave twice, refuses to, then begs wookie to close the thread

is cc really ds in disguise or something?

and yes, this isn't oot, but it doesn't seem like most of cc's posting had any other point than trolling in an effort to get this thread closed (by making it all about politics and indistinguishable from the other 2 that got closed)

i understand that this is a politics forum, but when this thread starts with:

Quote:
We have a bunch of different threads on the subject of gun control, and each contains questions about people interested in buying a gun, or, discussion of what guns people have. So, here is what this thread is for: Discussion of what guns we own and what guns we'd like to own, people interested in acquiring a gun, hypotheticals, tactics, safety and safe storage and recommendations. This thread is not for a discussion on gun control.
and has been around for this long (nearly 4 years), it seems like it's pretty much common knowledge that those are the accepted rules itt

No, the 27 post reports from people butthurt that someone would dare disagree on a matter of gun safety (not even politics) are what was begging me to close the thread.

wookie, his solution of 'just don't have a gun at home' is obviously trolling.

i mean, i didn't report the post, but it's pretty obvious.

There are almost 3000 posts in this thread. Most aren't debating guns. Does that mean it's not allowed? Of course not, but what it probably means is that all the people who do want to debate guns aren't completely ******ed and found the numerous other threads where debating guns is encouraged. Not the one where people have nicely asked you to knock it off in.

I agree with the others.

CC is correct in his statement that Taso is insane to not treat all guns as though they are loaded.

CC is insane and trolling with his suggestion that proper gun safety is not having guns in your home.

If CC wants to debate the merits and cons of keeping home defense guns loaded in the home, I'll grant him there's enough room for some debate and disagreement.

The "guns out of the home" is pure troll, and you're clearly siding with him on it for blatantly obvious reasons. It's a clear fringe position he's asserting as fact.

that's a pretty ****ty precedent to start, that anyone who wants a thread closed can go in, start as many trolly arguments as possible to get their posts reported, enthusiastically admit that they just wanted the thread closed, and then get their way

jfc, another gun owner who can't clean any of his firearms
01-12-2013 , 08:04 PM
so if you have the gun disassembled, which parts do you treat as loaded? all of them?

The receiver, LDO.

The rest are just "parts."

Well, if you completely mischaracterize what he was saying, yes, it does sound like trolling.
01-12-2013 , 08:23 PM
I'm gonna finish reporting all the posts with the word 'troll' in it now.

You can own a gun and be safe with it, while simultaneously owning ammunition for it. Human beings have invented many dangerous things. There can always be responsible ownership.
